Antique or Collectable clubs

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I just came into possession of some old golf clubs with Gene Sarazan’s name on them.  They have leather grips, and I have no idea whether they are worthless, or priceless.   Where can I go to get an honest opinion?  Is there a book on such things? Basically if they have hickory shafts they have a market value otherwise not (I know some people will collect anything but, in general). The Wilson company produced a series of Sarazen autograph hickories – top condition maybe $50 for woods $45 for irons, unless you have a spliced-headed wood: it is worth considerably more. There are several books available – by Pete Georgiady and another by Chuck Furjanic, for example. Another way to get a feel for price is to look at some of the antique golf websites – like ours for example :-)

You can get both books at Furjanic’s website : http://www.golfforallages.com I also offer a club appraisal service for a lot of clubs that nobody else wants:  http://www.solu.net/barry/values.htm — Barry Smith
