Bob, Please see the article How to Get a Women’s Golf Scholarship at our website, The Lady Golfer. She can get a Division I scholarship if she can break 85, and she can get one for Division II or III if she can break 95. Over 150 women’s golf scholarships went unused last year. Kathy Whitworth has a golf school near Orlando, but is fairly expensive. I had some info about it once before, but tossed it. Could probably find it again if you’re interested. Squeaks Proud Alumna of the Dept. of Defense Dependent Schools and an *Overseas Brat* Hand Salute! || Straighten

I don’t think you would like it if someone compiled your little European News snippets into a book and sold them for profit without your permission, so I hope you see why I am irked. I urge everyone who dislikes this plagiarism to send the this is to you. Turnberry, owned by a Japanese company, has emerged as a possible venue for the Alfred Dunhill Cup once the existing contract to host the the international team event at St. Andrews expires in October. The decision by the Links Trust to reject an approach from the sponsors to move the competition to an earlier date in the season has put the event in doubt. It appears that Turnberry would be able to accommodate a switch to September which St Andrews may struggle to match because the Royal and Ancient has a commitment at that time to their Autumn meeting. The Dunhill Cup is one of the most eminent events in the European year and Turnberry is a quality venue which will host the Amateur Championship next week. Curtis Cup history will be made at Killarney next month when for the first time on this side of the Atlantic, women referees will act as rules officials in the biennial contest between the top amateur golfers from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States. There were female referees in the match at Chattanooga in 1994 and now the Ladies Golf Union is set to follow suit. The Scottish Open may return to Gleneagles in 1997 as the event cannot be staged at Carnoustie, because of preparations for the return of the Open to the Angus course. Gleneagles will put on the McDonald’s Women’s PGA Championship in August and although the owners have indicated a certain reluctance to welcome back the Scottish Open to Gleneagles it was a very popular venue with the spectators and golfers alike. The BBC have signed a new deal with the R&A to show the Open and US Masters for the next six years against stiff opposition from the satellite channels. Included in this contract is the Loch Lomond Invitational, Volvo PGA Championship and the World Match Play from Wentworth. Commentators Alex Hay and Peter Alliss have also signed contracts with the BBC until the year 2000. Arnold Palmer’s company is to sponsor an annual match between the top college and university players in Britain and the United States. The first match for the Palmer Cup will take place at St. Andrews in August 1997. This week the European Tour is in Germany for the Deutsche Bank Open at Gut Kaden near Hamburg.
