Open letter to Laville

Question:

I really don’t think so. But to lighten it up- Slide rule? Luxury! Back in my days we were lucky to have all 10 fingers to count on… (I really don’t know if I should have started this…) I should have used a smiley.:)  I just don’t understand why everyone is so down on generation X.

You’re not trying to find employees, then! No, no <G. It’s too damn sad. Luxury… We were lucky to have bits of gravel to count on… Ciao! David. David McAuliffe,              | My views are not shared Acronym Computing Development | by my employer-

Slide rule? Luxury! Back in my days we were lucky to have all 10 fingers to count on… 10 fingers are fine for counting – I can count to 1023 on them, but haven’t figured out how to do logarithms yet.

I can get to 1111111111 on them- in binary… I think we should stop this now!<G Ciao! David. David McAuliffe,              | My views are not shared Acronym Computing Development | by my employer-

Response:

kids coming out of college now have learned about twice as much as you thought about in college.  Although they may not know how to use a slide rule. I really don’t think so. But to lighten it up- Slide rule? Luxury! Back in my days we were lucky to have all 10 fingers to count on…

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – It doesn’t take a mathematician to figure out what 2+2 equals in this case. When does it ever take a mathematician to figure out what 2+2 equals??? With some of the students I’ve witnessed being graduated from our schools any of them that can add 2 + 2 = 4 can be considered a mathematician. Sad, but true. Randy This, I know, has nothing to do with golf, but I would guess that the kids coming out of college now have learned about twice as much as you thought about in college.  Although they may not know how to use a slide rule. [...] Yes I do have anger and hostility, but it’s directed towards the hypocrisy and double standards we’re faced with almost daily in this newsgroup.  Like it or not, there is also a political faction in this group.  Either you say the right things and become part of it or say opposing things and become ostracized.

[...] Not only RSG; it’s the nature of the Internet and, indeed, society. You post a message here and you will get all sorts of wildly opposing responses. My suggestion to David is to just accept them for what they are and try to be a little less thin skinned and sensitive. And, for heaven’s sake, stop replying to every single message having to do with you or your integrity. Can’t you see that you only add fuel to the fire? From my perspective, it has become an international pastime getting you going…because it appears *so* easy to do. Just roll with it. Just my take on it all, Bruce Bruce E. David:  I think you misunderstood my last post.  I didn’t attack you for anything except your paranoia which is exhibited by your continued claims that (1) no one ever attacks anyone else for criticizing Tiger,

Very rarely is anyone else criticized the way I am for saying a negative word about Tiger.  As for your post, we didn’t hear from you for about a week  You show up, post a lengthy message about your vacation and finish it off with comments about me.   It’s like you couldn’t wait to return and get on the wagon and make a criticizing remark about me.  I did happen to notice you mentioned something about shooting in the 90’s and the remarks about me shortly followed. As for me being paranoid, both you and Young have brought my name up in a thread I wasn’t even involved.  How many times do you see me bringing up your name in a thread, hmmmmm?  I don’t consider it paranoia, I consider it defending myself from typical intolerant leftist envy. and (2) that no one ever defends you.  I’ve pointed out half a dozen times that I’ve defended you and you STILL do not ever reply, except with obscenity-laced comments like your last one when you feel attacked.

What do you want me to do, kiss your ass?  If you make a criticizing remark or flame about me I’ll most likely respond the same way.  You send you have defended me, please remind me of when, I can’t remember any.  Do me a favor, please don’t ever defend me, I don’t need your pathetic support. The comment about the Tiger Chokes thread (note:  I attacked the THREAD, not your first post) as being stupid was based on my feeling (which I’ve posted before, in the Duval and Norman contexts) that it is dumb for everyone to get so hung up on identifying what "choking" means.  I think it’s absurd.

Duval and Norman are not chokers,  They are just mentally tired from the pressure to win every week. As for throwing in comments about you in my vacation post, it was based on the number of posts I read when I returned.  You do tend to dominate certain threads, and your anger and hostility does come out exceptionally strongly.  So, like it or not, you will be commented on.

And I am the one who is ALWAYS SINGLED OUT  and commented on. Yes I do have anger and hostility, but it’s directed towards the hypocrisy and double standards we’re faced with almost daily in this newsgroup.  Like it or not, there is also a political faction in this group.  Either you say the right things and become part of it or say opposing things and become ostracized. Most importantly, you totally misunderstood why I said golfing is more fun than talking about it on RSG.  It was NOT an attack on RSG, you fool, so keep your flames in your nostrils and settle down.  It was a comment about enjoying golf because I was able to golf five times in seven days!.

Sorry about that, I was reading what you wrote, not what you said. Perhaps an analogy would help:  sex (if I remember….. :-) ) is more fun than talking about it on alt.sex.[anything].  Get the point now?  Sheesh. And I’ll keep posting on RSG as long as I want.  Surprisingly enough, I don’t get the types of emails you complain about.  I get emails supporting my comments.

Correct, from the faction that you belong to. You seem to not notice that you are the frequent target of criticism from participants new and old.  Do you think these people are somehow all suffering from the same delusion?

And if you have ever taken the time to notice these very same people seem to know the least and claim they aren’t very good at golf.  Last week I posted a e-mail reply about my knowledge of the golf swing from someone who is occasionally on my ass in this group.  And as I pointed out we weren’t even discussing the golf swing.  Re-read what I said in the first paragraph about your 90’s score and my name and criticism shortly following.  It doesn’t take a mathematician to figure out what 2+2 equals in this case. I’ve been criticized by maybe two people other than you and Ken, but never for my language or for anger or for intolerance.

Intolerance?  Surely you jest. As I’ve told you before, and as others have independently opined, your reputation on RSG is well-earned.  It’s just a shame that you don’t ever, ever listen to criticism.  More importantly, it’s a shame that you don’t just throttle down and stop attacking everyone. Attacking people because of their ISP’s?????

Yep that’s right!  We had two WEBTV’ers in here last month and both posted trolls and flames.  One even admitted that was his purpose of coming into this group.  I’ll attack anyone I like, anytime I like, even if I don’t like their ISP’s.  If you don’t like it, don’t read my post.
