Question:
Fairway conditions can influence how far you hit the ball. Balls often fly farther off firm dry ground than they do off wetter ground, even given reasonably good lies. Also, when I’ve been playing after the flu or a bad cold, I’ve been a club or more short. -joseph – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Mike. All I can say is that some days are like that. Playing different brands of balls, cool weather, or there is a bit more wind than you thought can all lead to some inconsistant distances. Also, It is very easy for little changes to creep into a golf swing and ruin a day (or a month). That is why even the pros need an extra pair of eyes. Start with some of the fundamentals. Usually it is something very simple (grip, stance, ball position, etc.)
Response:
not great distance. Lately I’ve been hitting the ball quite consistently but have not been getting the distance. The other day on a 166 yard par 3 I generally will swing a smooth 6 or play the ball back a bit "hooding" a 7. I generally get there either way. Today by the time I reached this par three I could tell I was not getting the distance. Like I said, I’m hitting the ball consistently …anyway, I ended up being pin high to the left with a 5. (Only got there cuz I pulled it.) What gives? Is this one of 20 some odd things or possibly just a couple? I must admit I didn’t really feel like I was releasing well all day… conversely I didn’t block much today or any real pushes…just straight-ish, whimpy-assed golf shots. Any suggestions are welcome. Take care all and thank you. Mike
