Golf Swing Faq

Question:

I just wondered if the current subscribers to this group feel that a FAQ related to golf swings, including faults and suggested cures, would prove to be useful? Over the last few months we have had a lot of queries about the full swing as well as the finesse game. I’m hoping to start one as I feel that many individuals, especially those passing through, may find it useful. — F.

Response:

Not to be a smart-ass but I beleive that the search for diagnosing a swing fault is more difficult than a swing cure. Especially over the net. Example: if my symptons are a slice……. is it from a weak grip. a poor path a set-up issue mis fit clubs squeezing the grip worn grips. overly stiff shafts toe contact reverse weight shift poor posture a hangover steep plane,,,,,etc One must first find the real root problem. The second problem is for the Group to agree on the cause / cure recommendation….and that day won’t come. So how you going to get it into a FAQ Brad – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I just wondered if the current subscribers to this group feel that a FAQ related to golf swings, including faults and suggested cures, would prove to be useful? Go right ahead. Add another page to the hundreds of golf swing information sites that are available on the web, books, video tapes, CDs etc. How are you going to resolve all the differences of opinion? (I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on what or whose swing ideas yours might contain.) Personally, I think you’d be in for a huge job. Either that or you’d be spending an eternity answering purveyors of alternative information, antagonists and those offering corrections. BTW, do you intend to link it to r.s.g., and under what authority, consensus or agreement? The current FAQ already includes … XI. Instructional Information 1. What causes a hook/slice? 2. How do I cure a hook/slice? 3. What causes a thin shot? 4. What causes a fat shot? 5. How do I cure a thin/fat shot? 6. How do I spin the ball? Maybe for a FAQ, that’s enough. I believe the current FAQ addresses most of the basic questions, at least as far as an FAQ can go. My website has a fairly expansive instruction section (maybe I ought to go back and read it).  And there are thousands of others on the web. Knock yourself out, but it’s not exactly new ground you’d be covering. I’ll take another look at your site.  I used some of your stuff before and found it useful. Knock yourself out, but it’s not exactly new ground you’d be covering.

No, but they are frequently asked questions in rsg. Thanks Randy. — F.

People still ask frequently here. How are you going to resolve all the differences of opinion?

I’ll get the faq checked out with some pros, and maybe the differences of opinion will have to be included. (I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on what or whose swing ideas yours might contain.)

I’ve got many book and videos and access to pros, but everyone will have an opportunity to contribute. Personally, I think you’d be in for a huge job.

Baby steps over the longer term. Either that or you’d be spending an eternity answering purveyors of alternative information, antagonists and those offering corrections. BTW, do you intend to link it to r.s.g., and under what authority, consensus or agreement?

Everyone will have an opportunity to contribute and their names included if they wish.  As a relative novice my name will not be there and I see no need for copyright either.. Not in my opinion. I’ve been building my swing and consuming info over the last 18 months, and i would have found this *extremely* useful. Cheers Colin Wilson RSG Roll Call: http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34/rsg/wilsonc.htm Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com

Just as you’ve done above perhaps.  The individual issues will then be covered in other sections within the faq. Thanks Brad. — F.

What is the address of the this faq?

It doesn’t exist yet.  I’ll create the first items shortly and post them here.   The fledgeling swing faq will be posted on the web at some point after that.  It will be an invaluable resource I’m sure. — F.
