Frankel – Swing the Clubhead

Question:

Anybody out there who has taken up this swing method (Swing the Clubhead)?  Apparently, it is based on the teachings of Ernest Jones, and today is marketed by Arnie and Ron Frankel. Wondering if it has any merit, or is just another "scheme" to part golfers from cash.

I’m really confused here.  1) You claimed to be so far advanced into mechanics that you were studying how the bones of the ankle and foot lined up to prevent swaying.  2) You were an expert in The Golfing Machine and Gravity Golf to know that Gravity Golf was years ahead of The Golfing Machine.  3) Now your asking if a 1920’s technique is a scheme????  If anyone, YOU should be telling US if this ancient method is a scheme or not with your advanced understanding of the golf swing. BTW, what happened to the Gerry Hogan method? David Golf Instruction Homepage http://www.geocities.com/Augusta/3628/

Response:

Yes, this method does have merit. The golf swing after all is a pendulum movement, is it not? There is one vital flaw in his method however, and the main purpose of the Magic Swing Thing is to correct this flaw. For more information go to: http://www.e-sports.com/goldengolf Another problem with the Jones’ method is this: how do you sell to the public what you can easily make yourself? Jones himself used to use a pocketknife attached to the end of a handkerchief for his pendulum demonstrations. I believe Frankel includes some fancy shiny pendulum as part of his tape series. Whatever the case, you don’t need Frankel. I haven’t reviewed the Frankel system, but I suspect you can go to the library and borrow "Swing The Clubhead" to get the same information. This book, which was reprinted as a Golf Digest Classic is now again out of print. Hopefully it will get a fresh run. It’s considered a must read for anyone who wants to fully understand the Spalding Method.
