Question:
Greetings to all in r.s.g., as a newbie of sorts (and reformed AOLer) I’ve been following this newsgroup on and off for awhile, but now hope to be a more regular participant. For the 12 years or so that I’ve been afflicted, I’ve been a left to righter. This has worked OK and as a recreational player (living in New England) I’ve gotten the handicap as low as an 8. I’ve recently figured out the secret to that nice, boring, aristocratic draw and hit it well and reasonably consistently on a recent trip to GA and FL. The problem is this: When I miss, its a hard left miss, generally a snap hook. I’ve often heard that the cause of such malady is the "breaking down of the left side", but I’m not sue exactly what that means or how to fix it. Is it a specific mechanical flaw in the turn, or is it a tempo thing. Any respone would be most helpful, with a little luck I’ll have some time to work on it between now and when the snow melts. Mike, It just so happens I recently went through the same woes over about six months of strife. I’ve finally solved it wit a combination of a weaker grip and a full dose of Jimmy Ballard’s "How to Perfect Your Golf Swing" (Golf Digest Books). It feels wonderful now and the hook listens. Good luck! Ron
