Question:
Richard: Dr. Atkins appearance on Larry King (August 6) has caused a great deal of discussion here on the alt.support.diet.low-carb newsgroup. Generally, we feel that Mr. King was somewhat rude with Dr. Atkins and repeatedly cut him off mid sentence. He also did not allow Dr Atkins to response to the criticism directed at him. Some of us on the newsgroup have begun a campaign and sent email to CNN to complain and hope that Larry King will FINALLY put Dr. Atkins on his show as a single guest for the full hour and allow him to present his research, evidence, and opinions as well as field calls from Mr. King’s audience. I personally have also written letters to several local radio stations hoping for them to carry Dr. Atkins’ show. I would also like to suggest that Dr. Atkins seriously consider having his show carried on broadcast.com or some other internet outlet. correct me if …but isn’t the larry king show all about controversy? isn’t his intentions to get many different views of people? i don’t watch him regularily..but i don’t think i ever seen a guest appear alone on his show unless talking about themselves like frank sinatra junior..but when someone is selling soming or presenting an opinion on a common subject king always wants to have controversy..i may be wrong tho. Read not to contradict and contort;but to weigh and consider.

I didn’t see Chopra attacking anyone. Actually, I didn’t really see anyone "attacking" Atkins, but Ulene and Rosenberg(?) certainly didn’t agree with him. Rosenberg was really the only one who truly made an attack. And I felt that he got just as much time as the others, possibly more, He was able to mention "metabolic" disorder quite a few times and got to give a low carb speech twice. The only person who got more was Chopra. Hell, I still don’t know what Resenberg was all about, just that he thinks that we will live to 120 and he wants to make sure it is a quality life. He did not even get the chance to explain his methods.

i never heard deepak chopra say anything towards the atkins diet but really i mean it has been out for what 25 years now? even tho i like the diet..he should know that he woul;d receive flack he has for years..it is like inviting tammy fay on and her thinking she is going to get a serious interview..i don’t agree they should have done it..but he is old enough to know it was bound to happen and if i am not mistaken they only talked about his diet once during the hour?..or did i leave the room..:) Read not to contradict and contort;but to weigh and consider.

That is cause Sommers has a nicer chest than Atkins… Don’t you know what a skirt chaser Larry King is? Go to admit, the old broad still has a nice body. No class, but a nice body. I still don’t agree. He just said he was going to "have a heart attack" himself if Dr. Atkins persisted. That’s not really a personal attack. Not very professional, but not a real attack. And I felt that he got just as much time as the others, possibly more,
Nah…Ulene got the most (the guy who didn’t "believe" in vitamins and supplements until just a few years ago), followed closely by Rosenberg, then Chopra, then Atkins. Most scientists agree that 85 years is about the biological limit for human beings, and always has been. That’s not an average, mind you. Some will live much longer, some much shorter lives. I don’t understand where Rosenberg got the 120 years, either. Maybe he’s a Star Trek fan? PS: Does anyone know if Atkins has a radio show in New York? — Kelly Sorensen Please don’t send me e-mail.
