Question:
I must say, I wear Etonic shoes. I actually bought two pairs. My first was the Etonic Ultimate (saddle style) spikes. I loved them. Not only did they look good, they felt great. THEN my favorite course went spikeless (Which is becoming a common trend it seems) and instead of throwing "alternative" spikes in them (which are availalbe) I bought the Etonic "Difference". I expected to get a good "spikeless" shoe. What I got was a GREAT golf shoe. I honestly couldn’t tell the difference between either shoe! I had TONS of traction. I’ve never worn FootJoy, so I really can’t do a honest comparison, but I was really impressed with the shoe. I wear my Spikeless more than my spikes, regardless of the course. Needless to say, I would highly recommend Etonic shoes, especially the "Difference". Douglass

I recently purchased my first pair of golf shoes. They were a pair of Niblicks (Sydney model: leather, waterproof). Haven’t had a chance to try them out on a course yet. My purchase decision was based on price. A modest pair of Footjoys (Turfmasters) were $99 at Nevada Bob’s (Woburn, MA). The Etonics were over $100. The Rockports were a little over $100 also. The Niblick’s were $40 on sale. I got a size that fit comfortably in the store. I figure if I really get into it, my next pair will be a Footjoy. (BTW, Florsheim has a web page (www.florsheim.com), and their shoes start at $130 retail.) … i recently posed the same question with regards to shoe recommendations to the group and got many helpful answers. i narrowed the field down to: florsheim – frogs dexter – drysports footjoy – dryjoys niblick – norman edition’s

I have narrow feet, so I normally buy Reebok or the FJ narrows if I can find them. I am looking for my first pair of golf shoes, but I would like some recommendations. I’ve been looking at Nevada Bob’s, but I’m not sure which brand would be the best investment. The brands that were on display were Etonic, Palmer, and Footjoy. The prices seemed reasonable–with the exception of a couple of Palmer and Footjoy styles. Of these, does anybody recommend one above the others? If Footjoy, DryJoy, SoftJoy, or Aqualites? Thanks, Keith
Keith: I’ve been playing this game for almost 40 years and have never found a golf shoe as comfortable as a Foot Joy. Unfortunately, however, I also have a narrow foot (B width), so I try to watch the golf catalogues that come to the house. (I think I get 4 or 5 of them.) Sometimes they have Foot Joy closeouts in a narrow widths. The best bet, if you can afford it, it to check the Foot Joy catalog at your pro shop to see what styles come in actual widths (such as B). They can order them for you. Best regards and good golf, Gerry
