My next shoes will not be Nike

Question:

My next pair of golf shoes are in the pro shop waiting for me to pick them up.  I have a wide foot and the size is 8 xw. They are FootJoys and I have been wearing them for many years.  They last 3-4 years without much care taken.  Too bad couse they would probably last longer. Good luck finding a pair of shoes that feel good when you walk aroun d the course. Bob

Response:

My next pair of golf shoes probably won’t be Nikes, mainly because    I have trouble finding Nike shoes that fit me comfortably.  They    always feel so narrow even though my feet are not especially wide.    I have the same problem with their running shoes.  For running I    usually end up with a pair Asics.  It seems that only Nike shoes    that seem to fit properly are some models of their cross trainers.

Yes, I agree.  I’ve worn Asics and Saucony for running, but have trouble finding wide golf shoes that fit well.  Etonics ST Plus aren’t bad, but could be more comfortable.  Dexters are wide at the toes, but they just don’t seem to last for me.  Maybe some Dubbin would help…    They seem to use a very narrow last in their shoe production.

The worst I found for this was FootJoy, although there was another post lately that you can get shoes with wider lasts from them.  I doubt they’ll ever make it up here though.    Ooops, sorry I guess I was off topic here. :-) .

Nah, new topic.  Good topic.  We should have a running rating thread going for shoes.  For instance, I like the Etonic ST Plus, but found the Etonic ST spikeless unwearable, with absolutely no support built in. Anyone have experience with sole inserts to improve this?    Nick

I looked at some of the Nike golf shoes, but the price has turned me off.  They look about the same quality construction as the regular running/basketball shoes, which is fair to OK.     They seem to use a very narrow last in their shoe production.

I’ve heard this from more than one person.     Ooops, sorry I guess I was off topic here. :-) .

So off topic, your on!! BTW, didn’t you know this was the alt.bash.politically.correct.companies.while.not.talking.about.golf newsgroup??     Nick
