Where to play in Vegas?

Question:

Going to Las Vegas in November and looking for a good desert course to play(preferably without any homesites). Any recommendations?

Response:

Paiute is nice.  If memory serves the weekday rate goes down to $55 at 11:00.

Response:

I’ll second that choice.  No houses! Three courses, and resonable(for Las Vegas) rates.  Great service also, which is also not the norm in Las Vegas.

Response:

Yeah, just go to Paiute. You won’t regret it! Definately one of the best in Las Vegas. I played the lesser of the three courses in 1999 and it was amazing! Bring a jacket!! (It’s a 30 mins drive up into the hills) It was like 42 degrees up there in late April!! Two guys we were playing with HAD to spring for $70 sweatshirts at the turn! This is AFTER paying for a $130 green fee! I had an old sweatshirt in the bag. I felt like I just hit the jackpot. Pratice your drives. Hitting out of that thick , almost artificial turf-like grass is a pain.

Response:

Paiute Golf Resort. I love it. Ken – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Going to Las Vegas in November and looking for a good desert course to play(preferably without any homesites). Any recommendations?

Another thumbs up for Paiute.  The Badlands is a great course, but the homes are a moving in. -keith

Response:

Mesquite is about an hour north of Vegas. Try Wolf Creek and Oasis. Two great courses. Cheap compared to courses in Vegas Raj

If you are going to play golf in Las Vegas, you have to check out these tee time auctions at Las Vegas Paiute and Revere at Anthem. There are foursomes that included greens fees and carts and sell for about 50 to 75% off the regular greens fees. My group just played Las Vegas Paiute (Wolf Course) for $199!!!! That’s $49.75 a player.

Wolf Creek is not cheap compared to anything.  Oasis is 90 bucks. If going to Mesquite I suggest getting a package with one of the hotels, which by the way are just about all owned by the same outfit. Casablanca, Oasis, Virgin River.

I think it would be great to play a round while I am in Vegas.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what course to play.  Is that Desert Inn course worth the price tag?  What about that new Rio Secca? Any ideas would be of help. Thanks in advance. David

Response:

I believe Rio Secca is only open to Rio Suites guests;  played it in March…worth changing your room reservations  :-))) – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I think it would be great to play a round while I am in Vegas.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to what course to play.  Is that Desert Inn course worth the price tag?  What about that new Rio Secca? To add to this……A group of friends and I are thinking of making a trip to Las Vegas.  Is there a resort, anyone could recommend, that will set up teetimes and such?  If you know please let me know.  We are planning our trip around October….. TIA, — belinda I believe you should live each day as if it is your last, which is why I don’t have any clean laundry because, come on, who wants to wash clothes on the last day of their life?

Response:

The Rio course is open to everyone, but $300 for non-hotel guests and $190 for hotel guests. It is a very good course but only worth $100 at most. The best courses for the money are the Puite Indian courses check out: http://www.lvpaiutegolf.com/ Also Badlands is a desert target course that has incredible views but with a 15 or high handicap will be HELL!!! http://badlandsgolf.com/ The Sun City courses are also great. For all the best data regarding golf check out www.golflv.com My order of courses to play, also considering green fees would be: 1. Orignal Puite Course 2. New Puite Course 3. Badlands 4. Sun City Highland Falls 5. Sun City Palm 6. Angle Park Mountian Course Courses which I feel are way over priced but nice are TPC Canyons, Rio, LV International (old Hilton), Wildhorse. One course I would stay away from is Desert Pines. Its on only 90 acres and the fairways are like bowling alleys to try to fit the course on such a small land area. Let me know if you have any other specific questions regarding golf here. I was in Vegas in January and played at the Paiute Resort, it is about 30 mins north west but worth the drive, there is 6-7 holes with water and the greens were very nice.  Quite busy and no clubhouse built then (mebbe now, in construction jan), not too long a course nor too difficult but very enjoyable.  It is a pete dye design. tel 800-711-2833 Ken St Andrews Scotland www.sol.co.uk/d/dabog Tee to Green Golf Tipping pages
