Hi, There is a good hotel on Batam, out of town, on the top of a hill, I think it was called The Hill Top Hotel or something similar. Good rooms, food and swimming pool. There was a special deal through a travel agent and only cost S$50 per night. I regret not getting to the Oar House, just for a beer, take a photograph and be able to tell the story about it Cheers, Pete Loud

Apparently The Korean liked the islands at one stage for it’s Monkey’s brain (same as Hong Kong). I don’t know, I swallow a Witchety grub but I think I just draw the lines at Monkeys. Too close to being the same species for me. Stay Frosty, Broomer

Resort food was also very average. For some reason, when I was there, there were not so many Singaporeans but many many Korean families, maybe it was their summer holiday. Hui Chee Hong
