Youngest RSG member?

Question:

I’ve been a little busy the last week so I haven’t had many chances to reply.  Thought I’d do it in one post.  Thank you to everyone who replied on RSG and privately.

I think you need also to start subtly ingraining golf into your son’s psyche *now* (even before he’s big enough to hold his first plastic club). A few suggestions: * Start by making a golf ball mobile to hang above his cot. Use a scorecard at the bottom to help it move in any breeze. * Fill a clear gatorade bottle with brightly coloured tees as a rattle. * And when he comes to teething, let him bite a lot on an old copy of Rotella. It will keep him calm and under control. :-) Cheers Colin Wilson RSG Roll Call: http://rec-sport-golf.com/members/?rollcall=wilsonc Trentham Golf Club: http://www.trenthamgolf.com

Response:

Howard:  His grandmother was IN the delivery room.  Sorry, didn’t mean to 1 up you.  :-)

Yeah, my daughter had my wife in with her with her newborn (the only time my wife saw a C-section).  When my daughter-in-law gave birth, the only spectator was my son.  Both cases, I was close and got to hold the baby and tell the mother how wonderful she was right away. My daughter’s pregnant again.  Now she lives close by (a mile from my home golf course), and will have her child where my kid sister had her 2nd and third.  That was a great hospital for seeing my nephew and niece before they had been washed!  The view out of her birthing room was Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville, CO.  (My niece is still pre-school, but I have golfed with her brothers)

Response:

Many hearty congratulations! I don’t recall wether this is your first. If so, good luck to you in the new world of fatherhood! Jeff Finkbiner —

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Joseph was born at 11:19am on Thursday May 16th.  7lbs 14 ounces, 20 inches long.  Mom and baby are doing well. I talked to him about golf an hour after he was born and gave him his first new STRATA when he was 6 hours old.  The nurses probably thought I was nuts but what do they know!  I’ll talk to Joseph about RSG later today and fill him in on some of the finer points of the group.  He’s not quite ready to post yet but he may do some lurking. Thursdays are official Men’s days at our club so I did miss my 2:20 tee time.  My wonderful wife told me I could go play if I wanted but I really didn’t want to and I was too tired from being up all night anyways. I’ve been a little busy the last week so I haven’t had many chances to reply.  Thought I’d do it in one post.  Thank you to everyone who replied on RSG and privately.  There really are some great people in this group. Kenny:  He’ll probably be a better player than his dad so the better question would:  When will Dad start caddying for son? Jeff:  I offered him a Pro V1 but he took the STRATA instead. Howard:  His grandmother was IN the delivery room.  Sorry, didn’t mean to 1 up you.  :-) Greg:  I never had a golf game! Rick:  I hope he whoops my butt on the golf course!  Thanks for the other kind words as well. Dan:  Thanks.  Now my handicap will probably expand as well. Loudon:  82!  That’s great!  I didn’t see any arguments so you must have the title as oldest.  How’s your golf game? John:  Thank you! Peter:  Thanks for the Pro V1!  That thing wobbles like a drunken sailer in heavy seas every time he putts.  Maybe we should try the new Wilsons…. Peepski:  Scotty Camerons!!!!  Whew…I’m going have to start a golf equipment fund instead of a college fund. BK:  Thanks.  Yes, our first.  In case you’re wondering….he was planned. Oh yeah, one more thing,  my wife and I are both 37.  :-) Colin:  You said alot.  I forwarded your post to my wife at home.  Thank you. — Bryan Berguson RSG Roll Call http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34/rsg/bergusonb.htm

However, I got married late in life, 47.  Based on the way kids are these days, don’t know that marriage and children will be the way of life in 20+yrs….8-(

In 20+ years your son will be 30+.    You’ve got time.

As perhaps, the oldest at 82, I send greetings to Joseph and his parents. I think I saw the perfect starting club for Joseph on RSG last week… that Burke club, about a foot long.  :}
