I’ve never said that. I believe that any bad day of golf is ten times better than any great day at work. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The most amazing thing is that people actually PAY MONEY to put themselves through the humiliation

unleashed this upon the world: I just don’t understand why we keep this up!
It’s simple. You never know when that perfect shot is going to come. I played 12 holes last Sunday, driving miserably, sculling chip shots, 3 putting easy greens – you know the routine. Then, on the 13th hole (lucky 13?), a 425 yard doglog right, I hit a drive I couldn’t believe. 230 yards, angled just a bit to the right to follow the fiarway perfectly. I followed this up with a 7 wood to the green, and a two-putt to make par. So, that’s why I keep playing…..you never know when somehting good is going to happen. (Now if only it would happen more often……) Regards, Dan Wistrup

Of course, you’re right. During my terrible game on the 9 hole last Sunday, I get to the eighth tee ( a 167 par 3), and line up my 6 iron. I hit a beautiful shot right at the flag, ending up three feet short of the pin. The guys behind us really thought it was going in. 42 crappy shots, one good one. Oh well, I’ll try it again this weekend! Not just a domain — it’s a way of life! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – unleashed this upon the world: I just don’t understand why we keep this up! I just don’t understand why we keep this up! Went out Saturday, and had one of the best 18 hole games I’ve ever played. My driver was my best friend, and hit all fairways but one. And putting! I think I could have putt with a hammer! That was Saturday. I shoulda known not to push my luck. Sunday we played a neat little 9′holer and of course I thought that Bertha and I would continue our wonderful relationship. To say the least, she betrayed me. And worse, I finally resorted to putting with an 8 iron cause that tramp putter of mine must have had some other club on her mind! WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO DO THIS?!?!?
I played my usual early Monday morning round yesterday. After 7 holes, I was already 11-over. My current index is 11.5, so you can imagine that I was both befuddled by and upset with my poor play. For just a second, I contemplated walking off the course after 9 holes since I hadn’t hit a good drive, iron, OR putt during the whole front- 9, but I decided to continue. After 15 holes, even if I were to par out, I was still on-pace to shoot my worst round in 3 years. What happens? On the last 3 holes, I sink putts from 25, 15, and 30 feet, all for birdie to finish 47-39. I guess that’s why I still continue to play. I suspect it’s because we all have a little masochistic streak in us, Larry. <g

Yes, the only thing better than golf (except for well, you know) is drinking milk right from the jug when my wife isn’t looking
