Golfing in Canada.

Question:

PEI and Cape Breton would make a great tour – good golf – Crowsnest Cove, Green Gables, Brundenel, Mill River, Cape Breton Highlands – great scenery, lots of tourist stuff and seafood, especially lobster.

Add Lingan golf course between Sydney and Glace Bay to this itinerary. And play twice at Highlands, then you have a Cape Breton/PEI balance. Alternatively, or additionally, assuming you fly to Sydney or Charlottetown, on the trip between islands — by ferry — you can pick up either Dundee or Antigonish in Nova Scotia.  Both of these are a rank behind Lingan and two behind the Highlands (Keltic). Highlands has just had a major facelift to restore it to it’s true 1936 Stanley Thompson design. Deeper pot bunkers, the works. Also has a brand new irrigation system and finally cart paths and electric carts. Good thing, the nine out, nine in is a ten mile walk. Also in process of getting an Audobon rating. Great course, too bad it’s not close enough to an urban centre to get the recognition (and tournament play) it deserves If you want the latest status call Gord Callan, Course Manager: 902-285-2624 or the pro shop 285-2600. Great course.

There are lots of dandy courses in Southern Ontario. You can play golf every morning and do something touristy in the afternoon – visit Niagara Falls, hike the Bruce Trail, white water raft, shop at a farmer’s market, tour Toronto etc. If you are interested, contact me personally and I’ll locate more information about tour operators, etc. That being said, there is also some fine golf in other areas of Canada – BC is great and the scenery is incredible. The Prairies are underated and you can even explore the Alberta side of the rockies and play some great courses – Banff, Jasper, Kananaskis. - Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I am considering taking a group to Canada. Does anyone have any suggestions on when to go, where to go and some idea of costs. Any suggestions on the best tour operators would be appreciated. (Ideally looking for a package deal, including rounds of golf.) If I lived closer to Saskatchewan (than the original requester in the UK) I would absolutely travel around western Canada and play golf.  As bwolfe1 said,  we have lots of courses,  and many are excellent.  Some nice layouts in neighbouring Manitoba and Alberta as well. dave

Why not give Montreal a look?  Check my web site and you might find some golf courses which might tempt you. Golf Montr
