Golf/ hotels in St. Louis, MO

Question:

I did not take up golf until about 2 months ago, but I was living in St.Louis before those 2 months and there is a course in Forest Park and I am pretty sure there is one in the southwestern part of the st.louis area but I don’t recall the name at present.  Hope that helps, St.Louis is a very kool town. -Mark – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – All: I tried to post this once before, but it did not seem to go through. If it goes through later, and you see this twice, I apologize. My wife wants to visit St. Louis for genealogical research, and wants me to go with her.  I won’t be doing the genealogy bit, but will be looking for golf courses. If anyone from that area would be willing to give me some suggestions, I’d appreciate it.  Probably better to just drop an email so as not to clutter up the board. Thanks Jerry Bennett

Hi Gerald,     I’m not from St. Louis, but I have family in the area.  I have only played a few courses, and have heard of on that should be played.  I have played at Governor’s Run in Carlyle, about 50 miles from St. Louis.  A very nice course in my opinion.  18 holes regulation, and also an 18 hole par 3 course that is really fun to play.     One in the St. Louis area that I have heard of that I would love to play is Ann Briar in (I believe) Waterloo, IL.  I understand that it is a wonderfully kept course that offers a good bit of challenge.  I have played other courses by the architect, and they are all wonderful.     Perhaps not much in the way of help, but that’s it from me!
