Golf courses in Albuquerque/Santa Fe?

Question:

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – says… I am planning to visit the New Mexico cities of Albuquerque and Santa Fe in the next couple of months. If anyone is familiar with these courses and would like to provide their inputs in this news group, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Heres my Northern/Central New Mexico top five; 1.  Farmington 2.  Taos 3.  University of New Mexico, South (Albuquerque) 4.  Cochiti Lake 5.  New Mexico Tech. (Socorro) Theres also a very interesting looking course at Isleta Indian reservation (about 5 miles south of UNM South), that is supposed to open this summer. Good luck, Ron Quinn

I would second the UNM course and Cochiti and add Valle Grande in Bernalillo (just north of ABQ). Steve Felice

Pretty hard to argue with those courses; I’d rank them about the same, except for replacing Socorro with Angel Fire probably.  Of course the problem is that really only one course (South, or the UNM Championship Course) is in Alb or SF (although Cochiti is inbetween, so it probably counts, too).   South will run you about $50 if you live out of state, but its a great course.  There is a course in Bernalillo, just north of Alb, also on the indian res, called Santa Ana or Valle Grande; it has 27 holes; I think its a good track, too, although its hotter than hades out there with few or no trees.   Of the three 18 hole muni courses (Los Altos, Ladera, Arroyo del Oso), Arroyo is the best, although also the most crowded.  Paradise Hills used to be a private course, now open to the public at pretty reasonable rates; I’d take it over the other two muni courses.  I dont know much about Santa Fe, other than Cochiti, which is probably 20 mins from SF and 45 from Alb.  Great mountain course; bring lots of balls; ride a cart.
