Hey Lou, I have worked at a golf course for 4 years, and we put in new yardage markers in the fairways and on the tees. I shot the distances with a range finder from the fairway straight to the middle of the green. We did not compensate for doglegs or vertical change in the terrain. I believe this is the way that most courses are set up. Steven
