Question:
Skidder, That’s too complicated a subject for this group. Basically it is intended to account for the fact that golf courses are not equal difficulty for a bogie golfer v a scratch golfer and that all 6,500 yard courses are not equally difficult. Go the the USGA web site www.usga.org for a good explaination. Larry
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well done. Can you tell me how the slope rating works though. We don’t have that in the UK. Dino Just got my first set of clubs a year ago this week. (Masters week, makes it easy to remember.) Yesterday I opened the back nine with Birdie, Birdie, Bogey, Par, Par, Par. One under par! When I got home I got my wife and kids to repeat after me: "birdie, birdie, bogey, par, par, par." I’ve never compared my score to par before. I always compare it to bogey. Alas, I completed the back nine three over par (shot a 40 on a back nine par 37, ended up with an 85 overall. Slope 118, rated 69.9.). Going home with Bogey, Bogey, Double for the last three holes. But as a consolation prize, my chip up to the green on 18 bounced off the pin. I did the right thing too and didn’t tally up my score until after finishing 18. Happy one year anniversary, golf.
