Question:
First of all, does anyone know approximately how many public golf courses are located in the Augusta area? I’m thinking of courses within 1/2 hour or so of the city itself. Are they accessible to locals or are they dominated by tourists? How about cost? If I wanted to move to an area where I could increase my year-round playing potential, is this a good place (as compared to Ohio)? I know it’s warmer, but are there public courses around that I can actually play and not have to fight huge crowds, etc.?
This is a little past your limits, but between Augusta and Atlanta on I-20 is Lake Oconee, with several great courses, including Reynolds plantation (http://www.reynoldsgolf.com), port Armor and Harbor CLub. I think its about 90 miles from Augusta. . . . . Scott Atlanta Tar Heel Home Page Local UNC Alumni Activities http://www.mindspring.com/~oneatl

I would like some information and some opinions on the Augusta, GA area. First of all, does anyone know approximately how many public golf
courses are located in the Augusta area? I’m thinking of courses within 1/2 hour or so of the city itself. Are they accessible
to locals or are they dominated by tourists? How about cost? If I wanted to move to an area where I could increase my year-round
playing potential, is this a good place (as compared to Ohio)? I know it’s warmer, but are there public courses around that I
can actually play and not have to fight huge crowds, etc.? Second, how about some general opinions of the area. What’s it like to
live there, general cost of living, stuff like that? I know Augusta National is gorgeous, but I’m interested in the real world
here. I’m considering a move to this area and I thought this might be a good place to ask for some information. Thanks in advance
for any replies. E-mail is OK, too.
