Question:
So no one gets confuse I will post this on the top and the bottom, I hate top posting just for the fact that we need some sort of accepted standard… when I read through them I want to know which order to read, I don’t want to think about it… I am somewhat surprised at the response to my post in which I agreed w/ Joseph Hall in commenting on "top posting." It had been intimated that top posting was viewed as bad by most people. The point was to show that there are at least two of us (and if you include Mark A, three, and there are others as well) who do not agree. Anyone who has followed my posts over the years will know that "me, too" is the least likely post you will receive from me. I’ll bet that I haven’t made 5 of those posts in the 4+ years I’ve been posting. But in this case, it was warranted, to show that Joseph’s opinion wasn’t something that is isolated and unique, which, again, had been intimated by others.

Response:
I don’t mind top posting, someone (BK I think), bitched at me about it a while ago.
Wrong! Get your crap together and your facts straight before you make accusations. I have never mentioned top posting, until today, and that was in answer to another poster. ___, o | / . "Someone likes every shot"

[....snip..] If I am posting a followup to an already top-posted thread, I will top post for continuity. However I prefer bottom posting, or posting like this – in answer to particular points, with some snippage. Lately I have found that a lot of posts are not appearing on my server for some days, yet I see them quoted in follow-ups. I find that with bottom posting I can follow the thread easier and the reply fits in context. I don’t think we are on a topic where there *is* right or wrong, just individual posting preferences, and I am sure we have enough to talk about without getting into a long 100 article thread. Since we are discussing topics such as this, I guess the golf courses must be closing for the winter. :-) — David RSG Roll Call http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34/rsg/sneddond.htm email: dsneddon AT attcanada DOT ca

I’ve noticed this subject getting a lot of attention on several newsgroups lately. While researching Newsgroup Netiquette, I found several web pages, but only one that addressed the issue of "top" and "bottom posting": http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/lyndale/lotcaf/netq.htm As you can see, I have personally decided to be a bottom poster. Having said that, I personally don’t care where a person posts his reply. Sometimes, when going through a long thread, I find it faster and easier to read top posts. Either way, I’m not going to let where a person posts his reply bother me. There are a lot more important things for a person to get upset about. — ___, o | /. Always Play the Max!

I don’t mind top posting, someone (BK I think), bitched at me about it a while ago. Don’t let it get to you. As far as I see it, as long as you include the original message then everything is good to go; whether you top post, bottom post, or intersperse your comments. Matt

<clip I hope that I’m not included in those that surprised you. I had nothing to say about the "me too" post. I just disagree about top-posting, but so what? I’m sure that you know that I respect you for your contributions here, and your golf game. ___, o | / . "Someone likes every shot"
