Why do people post to the group and then expect personal replies? Is it so they don’t have to go through the effort of searching a little for the answers?  Maybe someone else could benefit from a good response to a general question.

I know this may be radical, but perhaps, before you can post to a newsgroup, you have to read and acknowledge the rules for newsgroup?  For example: The newsgroup that you are subscribing to, doesn’t allow advertising.  If you post a question, please don’t request personal replies.  Oh yes, Have you checked Dejanews to see if your question have been discussed at lenght? As for clubs, get a basic set of 7 or 11 pieces, 14 is just too much for a beginner.  I would opt for a 7 piece set, it could be a name brand if you want, then as you skills improve you can add on later.  Most Department store have clubs sold seperately, and even so sport shops.  My choice would perhaps be a 3 & 7 Metals (woods), 3, 5, 7, 9, PW, and a putter.  Putters are usually sold seperately so they would be a part or a set to begin with. Most 11 piece sets come with 1,3,5, metals (woods), 3 – PW, then you usually add a SW and Putter, which leaves you with 1 free option for a metal, iron, or wedge. As for me, and I may be the only one who prefers this, but I have 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, & TW metals (woods) 6,7,8,9 irons, PW, SW, LW, and a putter for 14 clubs. But I’m NOT a Golf Pro, or a Club Maker, just a beginner just like you with the expience of making a lot of unnecessary club purchases. But the best advice I would make is to stay with the group, and not just post and expect personal e-mail.  If don’t want to waste you time sorting thru a lot of unwanted posts, just set you newsreader to view replies to your posts only. Have a nice day, Cause I’m not, I looking at 15 cm (about 5-6" for non-metric viewers) of new fallen snow. You could start with driver and 3 or five wood and 3, 5 , 7, 9, and a wedge and putter and work up from there.  Good used clubs at golf shops at reasonable prices and in your local paper. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –
