Used Kids Clubs in No. Va.

Question:

Hello, Looking for some place in Nothern Virginia that sells used clubs for kids. 6 yo and 8 yo girls. There was a place in Gaithersburg, MD but it closed before my girls got interested in Golf. Thanks Bert Robbins

Bert, I can’t help you with the used part, but I did see new kids clubs at Golfdom recently. Kenny — Kenny Stultz RSG Rollcall: http://rec-sport-golf.com/members/?rollcall=stultzk Troll and SPAM intolerant

I’ve been to the Golfdom at 123 and 7 and it is a pretty store :) , I’ll stop by there on my way home and see what the prices are on the kids clubs. We have a Washington Golf over here in Gaithersburg, MD, and they have the kids clubs too but, I don’t want to pay $20 to $30 per club for my daughters to find out if they like the game or not. I’m in the mindset of spending $20 bucks total for a diver, iron or two, wedge and putter. And, when the kids grow out of them I can then recycle them back through the whole mess. Thanks Bert

Don’t know of any place in No. VA that sells used kids clubs — maybe e-Bay or "Play it again, Sam" used sporting goods stores? – K

I doubt that Golfdom will be any cheaper that Washington Golf. Maybe it’s time for you to learn how to build your own clubs (doing my best Dalecki impression). Kenny — Kenny Stultz RSG Rollcall: http://rec-sport-golf.com/members/?rollcall=stultzk Troll and SPAM intolerant

go to the Golfsmith or the dynacraft websites and buy the components to make the clubs.  Have the kids help.  its way cheaper and a learning experience for both of you.   I doubt you will find 3 clubs for around 20 bucks anywhere except maybe a yard sale.   building them will cost around 35-40 bucks.

Ok, I’ve been to both sites and found that the costs are comparable. Now the specifics of what I’ll need. Clubs? I assume a 3 wood, 5 or 7 iron and wedge and a putter for 4 clubs? Steel shaft for the putter? Graphite or steel shafts for the wood and irons? I believe that cutting steel shafts would be easier to start out wiht because all that is really needed is pipe cutter. Epoxy, 24 hour type. Gripes and tape and solvent? Thanks for any and all responses, advice and other comments. Bert

Golfsmith and Golfworks both have excellent instructions on how to "cut and paste" the clubs together and they also have very good recommendations on lengths, grip sizes, and weights. Gaines
