Question:
Just wondering why Taylor made clubs have much more upright lie angles than other companies clubs? What is the benefit of this and wouldn’t affect your stance to have a 60 degree lie driver when you’re used to 55 or 56 degrees? cheers
Response:
Didn’t know they did. Have you had a set measured for lie angle? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Organization: GXSN Newsgroups: rec.sport.golf Just wondering why Taylor made clubs have much more upright lie angles than other companies clubs? Response:
According to their own very detailed club specs on their web-site the drivers and Lob wedges are only 5 degrees apart. (60 – 65) and their irons increment by 0.5 degrees per club rather than the standard 1 degree.
Response:
Hmmmmmm very interesting. I just checked their site and the super steel and firesole irons do indeed only change in increments of 0.5. But their tour firsole irons change in increments of 1 degree. Titleist DCI (990 and 980) change in increments of 1 for the 1-5 irons then at 0.5 for the 6-9 with the pw and 9-iron staying the same. While Cobra XCI irons change in increments of 0.5. So basically I am completly confused and have absolutly no idea why they change in the increments that they do. Sorry. Anyone else have any ideas???? – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Organization: GXSN Newsgroups: rec.sport.golf According to their own very detailed club specs on their web-site the drivers and Lob wedges are only 5 degrees apart. Response:
I may not be exactly correct, but I believe I read an article about the newer clubs having less loft (for greater distances) and also more upright lie angles for (hopefully) less slicing tendencies for the avg golfer. I do not remember the full details of why the more upright angles help, but I believe that was the reason given. Can’t remember where I saw the article.

Can you be sure, then, that you even saw it? Think back: you hated your father, yes?
