Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – YA! GET A BRAIN. Six months ago I purchased the best rangefinder available at an extreme cost. Still, I found it unsatisfactory, and further, defective. I conducted my own test on the 14th par 3 at my course. The flag was in the center of the green, and, according to the range finder, 150 yards from the tee. I used my 150 yard club, a custom built 7.5 iron. I struck the shot perfectly, but, it was exactly 12.72 yards short. I returned the finder to the company and they sent me another. On the same hole, a month later, my perfect 7.5 iron was 16.09 yards short! Any suggestions?
Maybe reassess your shot distances? Maybe use your custom-made 6.5 iron instead? Just some ideas. Andy

My current proclivity is to believe John Allen- a joke. In any event, how long before we see GPS? satellite tracking, with a sensor on the stick and the device in your hand. They can pinpoint to a fraction of an inch, and already [at $200] cheaper than those Bushnells. — http://www.geocities.com/MadisonAvenue/1488

I wonder if rangefinder users really account for humidity? Whew! Science in action.! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I’m pretty sure this was meant to be a joke……

My (Bushnell) range finder works fine – my golf buddy also has one and they read the same yardage when we check them. Remember it is a rangefinder NOT a shot maker! Did you consider the wind, humidity or a thousand other reasons? BTW how did you measure the 12.72 & 16.09 yards?
Response:
I suspect that changes in heat and/or humidity are affecting the flex of the shaft of the 7.5 iron. You might want to consider re-shafting.
