Question:
Yeah you sound like one to.

Thanks Felicity! That is a good looking swing.
I’ve still-framed it and the images in key position look almost identical to those in SLAP! The only slight difference I can see is a later start in the mcgolf image to the transition move, and perhaps a little more weight (or move to?) the right foot, but that might be related to the later transition move!??! I’d be *very* interested to learn what someone with a more informed eye than me thinks about this swing. I’m still a hacker. — Felicity

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Thanks! I guess I should add a couple of things about my first post. I mentioned that I had sore hands. This was because I was gripping the club too tight. I think this was causing a number of problems. 1. the sore hands 2. too much tension in my wrists, arms, back, neck….. well too much tension everywhere 3. I think it caused me to steer the ball, which of course doesn’t work very well. 4. I was "blocking" shots with stiff wrists. Interesting. This is something I have been overcoming. I tried swinging with ultra limp arms and shoulders and relaxed grip, hitting balls, for a few shots and using my body to swing the club, as it were. I discovered the ball flew a long way very easily using this kind of fling, especially with the shorter clubs. I then try to firm everything up a little to establish more control. Works very well for me at the moment, anyway, FWIW. Don’t know quite how to explain this but I’m thinking most of you will know what I’m talking about. The relaxed grip wasn’t something I noticed from watching the pros, I had heard it 100 times and thought now would be a good time to try it. My old swing caused me to sway backwards causing my left foot to rise off the ground. I knew this was not good but didn’t know what to do about it. The *NEW & IMPROVED* swing keeps my left foot firmly on the ground because I don’t sway anymore. I never knew if or when I was cocking my wrists. New swing I know exactly when it happens and it happens every time. Man, is it time to golf yet? Not far off judging by today’s weather here…at long last. BTW, something that helped a lot today..I downloaded a swing from www.mcgolf.com (supposedly a perfect swing!?) and watched it dozens of times just before I went to the range. I played the best and smoothest, relaxed shots ever. As I watched the clip I started counting 123…123…123…and I realised it was about the tempo of a waltz. I replayed this in practice. His whole swing takes about 2 secs. — Felicity

After an absolutely dismal fall last year on the golf course, I was left wondering if I really like golf that much. Just when the big tournaments started, my swing totally went to pieces. After about 2 months without picking up a club, I set up my net and hitting mat in the basement and started hitting balls. After a couple of days and sore hands I decided I was going to change something. I started watching some videos of the pros to try and get an idea what they were doing that I wasn’t. Without going into a lot of details about what I did (mainly because I’m not an expert and what worked for me probably won’t work for you) I did make 2 major changes. It felt good hitting into the net but I really wasn’t sure what was happening until yesterday. The temperature was about 45 here in Northern Pennsylvania and my wife and I went outside to hit some balls. Started out with a 4 iron and was consistently hitting them about 190. That’s pretty good for me considering the balls were cold, I had 2 heavy sweatshirts on and was hitting off a bad lie. Also hit some smooth and accurate PW’s about 125 and was goosing them to 140. (this was after I put my coat on) Suddenly, I like golf again. I guess the best part about my re-vamped swing is that it’s repeatable. That was always a problem before, hit one good and not know why, hit the next one bad and still not know why. This swing I can repeat over and over and over. I can’t wait to get out on golf course now! 2 weeks until I go to North Carolina….. Bryan — Bryan Berguson RSG Roll Call http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34/rsg/bergusonb.htm

Congrats. You sound like me. My swing is very much coming together. It just about started to improve markedly last autumn, just before I re- joined RSG, and I haven’t looked back since…. right up until another recent leap forward. I am now *consistently* better too. Hardly any really bad practice sessions. Hope I can take it to the course. Can’t wait for the season to start. — Felicity
