Question:
Ok, here’s the scoop. I hadn’t played any golf between last October and early April. I’ve now put 4 rounds in the books and it’s no surprise that I’m not playing anywhere near where my index had me when I had stopped (I’m embarrassed to say it was 10.5 and you’ll know why if you continue to read). What IS surprising, however, is the diametrically opposite rounds I just played in back-to-back weeks. Last week, I couldn’t hit my Tour Spoon (driving club) to save my life. I broke my unofficial personal record by topping my tee shot 8 out of the 12 times I used it. However, I "compensated" by having an unconscious day of putting where I had 7 one-putts and no three-putts to finish with an 85. BTW, I should point out that my chipping was VERY poor, so none of those one-putts were of the "gimme" variety. What happens this morning? I had no topped tee shots with my Spoon, again using it 12 times, BUT….I broke another personal record by having 7 three-putts, including 4 in-a-row on holes 7-10, featuring a three-putt par on the 500-yard, par-5, 9th hole. That was all-the- more demoralizing because I can count the number of times I’ve made that green in 2 shots on one hand out of probably 100 rounds AND I hit my tee shot so well, I only had a 4-iron 2nd shot. EEEEEE! I ended up with 42 putts (yes, I actually had 1 one-putt) and finished with, you guessed it, another 85. So, what’s the kicker? I’m scheduled to play with a group of friends to startoff a bachelor party weekend at Poppy Ridge this Friday. I’m just so looking forward to this. <insert sarcastic tone there jeff — Jeff Chung http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34 Puckett Tribute, SJ Golf Course Review, Movie Quotes & MIDI Jukebox

I can sum up your problems in one easy phrase… "el Nino" It’s the only thing it can be!! I myself have experienced simlar diametrically opposed hitting peaks and valleys. While not anywhere near the player you obviously are, I used to improved regularly. Last week I couldn’t hit a ball wrong. I felt like anywhere I aimed with any club I’d get it right where I wanted it. This past weekend I hit balls for a while, and not one damn ball would even consider going where I wanted it to. I think when things differ so radically it must be el Nino – what else could it be??? HG

Gamma Rays , The earth is currently being bombarded with more gamma rays than any period recorded to date. Or perhaps something more sinister ?
