I believe that I read somewhere that Tiger’s ethnic background breakup is as follows: Father – 1/2 Black, 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 American Indian Mother – 1/2 Thai, 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 White (British or French???) Which makes Tiger’s makeup: 1/4 Black, 1/4 Thai, 1/4 Chinese (add the Thai & Chinese and you get 1/2 Asian), 1/8 American Indian, 1/8 White. Of course, that is his Ethnic background, but what he *IS*, for chrissakes, is an AMERICAN. If the decendants born here of the people who came here on the Mayflower can call themselves Americans, why is it that people born here with off-white skin hues seem denied that same privilage? He is. The original poster pointed out that his mother is of Chinese descent. If you go back long enough, all Thai’s are of Chinese descent. There is a very large contingent of ethnic Chinese living in Thailand–I have no idea what his mother’s status is. BTW, I mailed a Big Bertha driver to my brother-in-law in Thailand last year. My wife bought it for him over my advice (that he could get a similar club there cheaper if we just sent him $$$$). I plan on retiring in Thailand eventually–one of the reasons I’m taking up golf now. Lot’s of nice courses and relatively cheap!
