Question:
says… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I think the whole of Australia will be hoping Stephen wins, not just for the fact that David Graham was the last Australian US Open winner, but because Stephen is such a nice, laconic guy with a dry sense of humour, who works hard on his golf. I’m not sure if it will happen, but it would be great. Particularly since he’s missed a card at USPGA Q-School by a single stroke for two years running. Actually I don’t think I mind who out of the top four (Furyk, Leaney, Price and Singh) wins. Furyk is too good not to have at least one major win in his career, and it would be fitting if he pulled it off. All the other three are southern hemisphere golfers, and potential President’s Cup players, so naturally I’ll be "rooting" for them.
If Leaney won, it would be some way to get a US Tour card! … five year tour exemption, five years of automatic US Masters invites, ten years of US Open invites etc. etc.!
I agree that any one of the 4 leaders would be a great winner. Leaney has superb execution and I think he’s a good workman, to say the least. I’m not expecting him to gag in the stretch. I think the same of Furyk and Price. VJ looks to be the most susceptible to wild shots. Nick Price is my sentimental favourite (gotta cheer for the old guys). By the way, that’s the first mention I’ve seen of David Graham in quite a while – my favourite guy from decades ago. I think he had the best golf swing out there, period. This is gonna be grrreat! I hope the wind kicks up a bit, not too much. jmkanes

I wish the U.S telecast would should more of Stephen Leaney. He has been in contention all 3 days, potentially could break 70 in all 4 days of a U.S open, and they rarely show him at all on television. He is a very underrated player with 7 International victories to his name. When he is on his game he is extremely accurate with his driver and Irons and cool as a cucumber. I dont think that he is getting the credit that he is due – makes me wonder if they think that he is just having a lucky week. Go Stephen.

You obviously missed the one-question interview at the end.
I thought for a guy who was coming fourth or better from the outset, they might have shown a few more of Leaney’s shots. I guess the Tiger misses and bogeys still rated as more important.
