question on club length

Question:

Height is just one factor. Arm length and posture will also figure in. Just as important as length is the lie of the club. You don’t want the toe or heel off the ground when you address the ball.

Actually, the toe of the club should be slightly off the ground at address. The shaft flexes slightly during the downswing which "flattens" the lie. The only way to check all these factors is to be fitted by a qualified professional.

Yup.

Hello, I’m new to this group and also a new golfer. I have a question about the length of a golf club. Is the appropriate length of a club proportional to the golfer’s height? For example, I’m 5′10", so should my driver be XX inches long, while my 8 iron is another length, again according to my individual height? Or is there one universal length for each club?

There are "standard" lengths. Custom fitting will determine the optimum length for an individual taking into account your body size and swing characteristics. The wrist to floor measurement is most often used as a static reference point for fitting length. Robbie
