New Clubs

Question:

writes – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -If possible, demo Ping ISI steel.  They go where you aim them, no need to work the ball.  I always detested the feel of Ping irons but the ISI head with the cushin shaft is my favorite iron of all time.  I think yours is the perfect history to give these clubs a chance. Hi, I am hoping to buy myself a new set of clubs in the next few months and like the look and feel of the  King Cobra 11 irons and also the Ti driver. Can any one comment on these or what do you recommmend ?(I hope to have around 1500 ukp to spend) I have been playing for 26 years ( I’m 37 now  :-(  too late to turn pro !!)and my current handicap is 19, although I have been playing consistantly between 13-15 0ver par lately. I have been told that all golf clubs come from the factory made to suit a person 5′10" tall. Is this true ? Is it worth having clubs ‘made to measure’ Regards, Ian C.

I just bought the King Cobra II irons for 499 ukp and I think they are amazing. They go as straight as possible and a long way.  I recommend them but I would go to a Large golf chain such as Golf Land and test loads of clubs out on the computer and get fitted if necessary. — Rob Mitchell

Sorry, one more question… I am looking to buy a new set of golf clubs… I have 350 dollars to spend, and I think I want to get a whole set, not just an irons set or a set of woods. I looked into Nevada Bobs today, and saw a few sets, the Spalding Executive EZX (I am playing Spalding Executives from like 1990 currently) jumped out because it is a new set of my old clubs, and it was priced at 349 for graphite shafts….can anyone recommend this set of clubs, or a better one? Thank you very much….

Response:

you should take a look at the PowerBilt Grand Slam clubs…they are about $350 for steel and $400 for graphite…very solid clubs and good for even the intermmediate player…. BTW: they are 3-PW, 1, 3, 5 woods

Response:

In Golf Magazine, Edwin Watts had a sale on the original King Cobras 3-PW for $299.  That’s a pretty good price, considering I paid $499 for 3-SW two years ago. I love my set and highly recommend them. The strong lofts did take a little getting used to.

Being $220 Australian each I expected alot and that is exactly what I recieved They have a forged head which I have found to be most outstanding around the greens. Does anyone else use forged clubs and if so have they had a similar experience? — Robin Wilson

Congatulations with your new Piranhas, Robin…….I have long used forged wandered off and tried other types of club for a variety of experimental reasons, I am always drawn back to the blades…..they feel like familiar like a knife through soft butter….especially the 2-iron and the 3-iron. Beautiful clubs….get to know then well Robin and they will truly reward you!! david

I am looking for a new set of clubs and one of the local shops has this brand, have used a 1/2 set demo, which seem OK, the model is M501, but I tend to hit them a little lower than I like, ?? lower flex shaft to get it a bit more airborne. Their lineup have beta-Titanium drivers, in lofts from 7
