Question:
How would you like to be in the group behind that long driving clown in the infomercial? You’d be on the green just about to putt and he is on the nearby next tee. You take back the blade just as he lets loose with one of those yells he makes at impact. And don’t even get me going about the idiocy of the talking "smart-shaft." I heard somebody talked about it last week and checked it out. You can buy if for about $230 U.S. at this website http://www.zef.com/depts/golf/ It’s supposed to increase your club speed by 25% but is illegal for USGA rules. They sell some kind of sticker you can use to cover the air holes to make it legal. I kind of have my doubts about the stickers. I wonder how much 25% increase in club speed actually increase your distance. I tried my friend’s new driver last week – it was half inch longer graphite shaft and a lot lighter than my Steelhead Plus with steel shaft. I hit a ball 105mph – about 10mph over my average and 5mph over my highest speed – right on the sweetspot and dead straight. But it just didn’t seem to go that much further. You figure a 10% increase in club speed probably should get you about 20 to 30 yards extra carry over my normal 210 to 220, but I just didn’t see it. Anyway, I’m probably not going to shell out for another driver for a while. Let me know if you ever get one. All those air holes should make a very interesting screech through the air. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Has anyone tried the Hammer Driver on TV? And If you did or do use it.
