Question:
Hi i practice with my feet together and I swing with a towel under my armpit to ensure a good turn at the shoulders and hips and over the years i have went from a 15 to a 2. I try to replicate the swing of the laser guide. and thats all i have to say about that!!!!

Well im wondering if any of these practice/training aids/clubs I see are actually worth anything or help at all? Things like the medicus, refiner, swing magic, momentus, etc. Has anyone actually used any of these and if so did they actually help? I’m just getting back into playing, started some lessons and want something to help when I cant get to the range or play. Any info would be appreciated thanks Vince
Tempomaster is pretty good, but like all of the training aids, you have to use it alot.

Well thanks for those that replied, looks like the weighted golf club seems like the best bet. I gotta agree with hkguy. The best training aid is a big mirror and some masking tape or post-its to mark your alignments. — Digital forums are a gift to the slow witted

The only swing aid that I’ve found to be helpful is the *momentus*. If for no other reason, it’s a great muscle stretcher before a round. It’s not designed to come in contact with the ground or hit balls so anyone other than maybe little people (midgets) can use it. Everybody has a different way of getting the club back and releasing it through the swing. Height and body type are a couple of reasons. I don’t think a guy that’s 6′8 is going to swing a *medicus* the same as a guy that 5′4(or gal’s). The club couldn’t have been designed in respect to those difference with enough hinge points. Face it, some people just can’t swing like an Elkington or a Purtzer or Woods for that matter. The key is finding what right for each player as an individual to get the most out of their ability. And nothing beats an open minded teaching pro for that. There’s only one swing aid I would suggest and that’s the Momentus. David Laville, G.S.E.M. The Golfing Machine Authorized Instructor Contributor Of Consistent & Spam Free Golf Advice

the momentus, that is the weighted club right? I think that comes in a driver and 5 iron? any reason why you suggest that one? thanks Vince — Vince’s Undeniable Truth of Life # 12 People who say, "Violence never solved anything" are ignorant of history. Violence solves a lot of things.

I have just about most of the "training aids" one can buy that does not require a truck to deliver. I can honestly say that none of them were able to help me discover "The Swing". I struggled for close to 5 years trying to find "The Swing" after someone (a good player) told me I wasn’t turning my body thru the swing, thus robbing me of distance. None of these training aids helped. Turned to a couple teaching pros, didn’t help either. In fact, my swing became worse and worse that I was no longer able to hit anything longer than a 5 iron. Then last week, I rewatched an instructional video called "Faults and Fixes" by Leadbetter and Nick Price, and with the help of a large mirror, I suddenly was able to see what I did wrong, and how a good swing should look and feel like. Ran to a driving range, and for the first time, I was able to hit some 210 yards carry high 3 irons without swinging out of my shoes. So you can say for me, the best training aids are the old video and a big mirror. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Come on all these golfers and no one has used any of these things? some info please — The Vinman LQ MESA Calgary South Vince’s Undeniable Truth of Life # 12 People who say, "Violence never solved anything" are ignorant of history.
