Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I have played golf with and without a glove and to tell you the truth, I don’t feel any difference in my grip. In fact I find that a glove irritates me. It pinches the skin slightly in my left hand and believe me, the glove is a perfect fit. Another problem I find is that everyone takes it off while putting. For better feel they say! Come on really! Why do they take it off while putting? Golf gloves originated in the old days when they had leather grips. They provided a better grip when the hands started perspiring. Nowadays they have special rubber grips, hence no need for gloves. I think everybody uses gloves out of habit from the old days. Let’s not be ninnys. Take those gloves off and feel the club in your hands. Your input would be appreciated. Robert
Robert: Gloves are not a necessity, thats for sure. One of the best golfers I know has never used one. So I know some golfers can play well without them. Then you have the folks like me. I have been playing wearing a glove so long it would be a very big adjustment to not wear one, even if I wanted to do that, which I don’t. The reason I wear a glove is the same reason I keep fresh grips on my clubs. It helps me maintain the same grip pressure throughout the swing and I know the club is not going to slip. Also I find it more comfortable. Different strokes for different folks, I reckon. Tommy Anderson

Some do, some don’t. Freddy Couples plays gloveless, as do several others on TOUR. But most still wear a glove. I tried going gloveless for a while last year, but I found the occasional "slippage" was enough to get me to put the glove back on. It may be "between the ears," but isn’t that where most of the battle is fought in golf anyway? Randy

The only reason I wear one is to prevent blisters TC
Response:
Have you tried cord grips? I’ve played with cord grips and no glove for 10 years. Sometimes, early in the season before my hands adjust, I have to wear a glove on the last few holes to prevent blisters. The cord grips are hell on gloves! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I couldn’t disagree more. I use a golf glove regularly and just don’t feel comfortable without it. Maybe my hands are really sweaty, but it just doesn’t feel like I can hold the club without a glove. I wish I could play without, it would save me some money every year… Tom P I have played golf with and without a glove and to tell you the truth, I don’t feel any difference in my grip.
