Question:
From May 1 through Oct 30 is the "off season" and it is relatively cheap to play most of the courses down here. You can get coupons for most courses. I pay $30.00 to play Jacaranda and I have summer membership at Bonaventure so it cost $18.00 for that course. Coupons there are about $30.00 also for non-members. During the winter it goes up to somewhere around 80-100 bucks for them. Since I have only recently moved here from Texas, I don’t know if there are coupon specials during the winter, but I think that there are. I am going to get a yearly membership at Bonaventure that will cost me $2100 and $18.00 per round even during the winter season. It will be for weekdays only, which is good for me since I hate to play when it is crowded on the weekends. I could have done the same thing at my course in Texas for $750 for the year and $9.00 cart fees. You pay for the sunshine! When you come down, let me know and we will get together and play a few rounds. Don D. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Bonaventure East and Jacaranda West. You lucky snot! Way to go! How were the fees when the snow birds aren’t there? -T- *considering a vacation next May or June, and writing it off as a business trip…* It finally happened. I played at Jacaranda West today in Plantation, Fl. and shot a 78. I had 41 on the front nine and thought that I had no chance for breaking 80 but shot a 37, one under, for my 78. I had played Bonaventure East yesterday and had a 41-41 and thought that my game was coming together and I was right for a change. I attribute the 78 to two things. My new Mizuno MP-33’s and my Integra 400cc driver. I was hitting long, straight drives and crisp straight irons. I had only 3 birdies but was in makeable distance for 3-4 more that I missed. I had only 1 three putt and one penalty stroke, a lateral water hazard. I love those MP-33’s. They feel so great when I hit them and I am getting better distance than previously. I had a little problem on a couple of holes when I was between clubs and took the longer one. I always overswung and hit them fat! I am going to have to find a better way to adjust for between club shots. Me and my partner were paired up with a couple of guys who had wild looking swings but actually hit the ball pretty well. They were a little pissed that an old man was outdriving them and kept swinging harder to compensate. Jacaranda is an easier course than Bonaventure and I won’t really be satisfied until I break 80 on that course. I play there again tomorrow and maybe I can do it. Golf 3 days in a row is kind of hard on my old body though. Sorry for the long post, but I am proud of my 78. And yes Colin, I played the ball down, by the rules.

Cool. I shot almost exactly the same score for my 80 breaker on the weekend. It was also the first time I broke 80 in competition. Well Done. Lets hope that whatever is in the air stays there for a little while yet. Congrats Dean Gough

I figured as much but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mess with you. I’d be happy just spelling my name right after shooting a sub 80 round

Shorten the length of your backswing slightly but don’t try to lessen your clubhead speed. -WG
