Question:
Coop! Great to hear from you. I know how raising little ones can affect your golf swing. But I would rather be back in your situation than a "single golfer" again. I do get to play a bunch more golf than I have in years. My index is now in the 10’s. Oddly, most of my improvemet is with the short game. I still don’t think I can hit my GBB further than you hit yours. Once I figure out how to keep my newest toy (the Turner) in play, I believe it could be a keeper. Keep in touch. Don’t feel shy about sending mail direct to my box. Take care. Hope to tee it up again in Atlanta next year. Gary
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Gary, 6 rounds in a long weekend?! You lucky SOB! I’m lucky to play 6 rounds in 3-4 months! I finally bought a used GBB 10 deg w/ UST ProForce 65 on Ebay this week and hope to get it late next week. I hope all is going well with you. By the sounds of how much you’ve been playing, your hdcp must be single digit! Take care, Cooper Midway through my 5th of 6 rounds of golf in four days last weekend, I lost control of my driver off the tee due to muscle fatigue. Rather than go to my fairway wood, I just choked down on my grip 1-2 inches and tried to swing smooth. Back to the fairway! I liked the added control so much that I played the entire 6th round choking down on the driver with excellent results. My distance didn’t suffer much, if at all, because I was finding the spring effect sweet spot more often. My driver is a Turner 360 with a UST Poforce 65 at 45". Is there any difference in swing characteristics between choking down 2 inches versus cutting down the shaft the same amount?

If you want to be anal retentive about it, there are a few minor changes: 1) the club’s grip is just slightly thinner when you move away from the butt 2) the club’s swingweight will go down slightly 3) the club’s flex will be become ever so slightly more stiff I grip down on a 45" driver rather than cut it, because right now I feel that the benefit of having that extra inch when I want it outweighs the minor things I mentioned.
