Question:
There probably is no best choice for our level of game. I use a Top Flite XL. As I improve, I will try a ball that will allow me to work it with more precision.
I know that both titleist and top-flite have cool little ball selection programs on their websites to help you pick the right ball depending on your level of play. There are links to them at http://www.golfbargains.com/Links.htm Dan —

Ok… I’m new to the game… playing to a 27 handicap in 6 months. I’ve tried a dozen different brands and an equal number of types of golf balls, and, for the most part, I see and feel little difference in results; except that Titleist HP2’s feel ‘better’??? So… if one’s goal (with respect to the choice of ball) is to maintain a modicum of control (spin; better feel; etc.) without sacrificing distance, AND control, WHAT’S THE BEST CHOICE (for an 27 handicap on the improve!). One last consideration… inasmuch as the typical golfer (myself included) probably spends nearly $1k on clubs and toys, $30-60 a round, etc., the cost of golf balls really isn’t an issue… so don’t promote the best ball choice by it’s economics. This ought to be interesting….. — Bob Lieberman
