Question:
I have just acquired 24 dozen used Titleist golf balls… And there seems to be at least that many different types of Titleist golf balls! How can I sort out the ones that don’t have obvious markings? Some have the number in red, some in black (any sifnificance?), how can I tell a balata from solid, etc. Any links you can recommend? Thanks.
http://www.titleist.com/balls/ballmn.htm?IM=md This will tell you about the currently produced balls. ]]]Z[[[
Response:
On Titleist balls, black numbers usually mean 100 compression while red numbers designate 90 compression balls. For a complete list of Titleist balls try: http://www.titleist.com/balls/tb.htm?IM=md John

Response:
Black numbers are 100psi compression, red nos are 90psi compression. You won’t feel the difference between the two. A tour pro was asked to do a test and he couldn’t tell the difference. Anything with the word "DISTANCE" on is solid, Ones like "PROFESSIONAL", "TOUR BALATA", "TOUR PRESTIGE" are balata balls. Hope this helps.
