Well just got back from a week’s vacation in Door County, WI. On Saturday I went down to Green Bay for the second round of the senior LPGA Legends Copps Great Lakes Classic. Here are some random observations from there. Those girls SWING the club and let it do the work. I saw Judy Dickinson, Patty Sheehan, Jan Stephenson among others drive into the breeze, uphill on the 363 yards 6 th hole. They’re drives got out there nicely with no apparent straining. I’m not sure i could have driven as far as they did. Sally Little has not eschewed the longer irons like many of the ladies and put beatiful swings on a 4 iron and a 5 iron on the par 5 eighth. The ladies hit a lot of fairways. On the 9 th hole an amateur Linda Horwitch drove into the hazard 215 yards out downhill. She looked at her club and said to her caddie, a kid at the club, "I asked you for a 7 wood, not a 3 wood". the caddie replied he thought she said 3 wood! When I saw her, 68 year old Joyce Malison was 6 over through 25 holes! She looked like your Grandma, in the low 5 feets, rotund, and not moving very fast, but she was golfing her ball. Jan Stephenson’s acouterments defied gravity. A very enjoyable day. I would take it as a great accomplishment and compliment if someone said to me:" Brian, you play like a lady" if they meant a lady of the senior LPGA. B. J. Wilkinson
