Question:
The only thing that the TP-9 and 990 have in common is that they are both used to strike golf balls. The TP-9 is a forged carbon muscleback iron, the 990 is a cast stainless steel cavity back. The better investment is the one you hit better. Im a lefty, and I am in the market for some new clubs. I have heard good things about both the Titleist 990 and the Mizuno TP-9, both similar clubs. Any opinions on which would be a better investment?

clubs. Huh? I wouldn’t say they’re similar at all. 990s are still cast clubs with cavity backs and TP-9s are forged with muscle backs. I’ve hit ‘em both just on the range to try them out and I can say for sure that TP-9s are much more softer feeling clubs and when hit on the sweet spot with the ball, it felt as though I was just going through butter with a hot knife, whereas with the 990s, I didn’t get that even with a good hit. But I believe that 990s are bit more forgiving than the other. But you should most of all "test drive" them out on the range. Steve
