is this a ladies ball ??

Question:

the only difference in 80, 90, or 100 compression balls are (again) the spped of your swing causing the ball to compress off of the club face and the speed of the ball’s recovery to round.  Therefore, compression rating is the last thing anyone should take into consideration when choosing a nto consideration when choosing a ball.  Look more at the feel of the cover.  I choose a softer, balata-type cover as it creates less vibration through the shaft and my hands.

i am sorry but this is not correct….the cover of a ball has more to do with the spin rate of the ball than the"vibration through the shaft" feel….a 100 compression ball will feel harder than a 90 witch feels harder than a 80…swing speed does’nt realy make a dif. in choosing comp,Tiger uses 90 comp…if you want to feel less "vibration through the shaft"try a lower comp.ball…..                      Jack

I was told that once but can’t find anything to back that up…                       any help would be greatly appreciated! I would sure like to get away from gender-specific marketing of stuff like this. There’s many a little old geezer-type guy who would benefit from using a lower compression ball, but wouldn’t dream of it b/c it’s a "ladies’" compression. Poppycock. It’s no more a ladies’ ball than a 100 compression Titleist is a man’s ball. So, what kind of look does the salesperson give you as you pick up your box of Professional 90s?  Would that be like the look a guy gets buying a supply of tampons?

Nah, I just march in there, adjust my crotch, run my sleeve across my nose, scratch my *ss, hawk and spit on his shoe, and look just like a regular customer. Squeaks Proud Alumna of the Dept. of Defense Dependent Schools Straighten Up And Fly Right!!!                           <       Hand Salute!

And of course inside the envelope there was also another sleeve of Pinnacle rocks, this time the titanium variety.

They had to send her another sleeve, Joseph. They gave all the golves away to the people who ordered the balls. — Don Porter Newspaper Reporter & Webmaster Web Page: http://www.datacruz.com/~dporter

I agree with you 100%.  I also use "men’s" shafts on my irons.  I tried women’s clubs and found them to be much too light and flexible.  It all really comes down to the speed of your coil and swing. As to the women vs men in the…er…golf ball department, the only difference in 80, 90, or 100 compression balls are (again) the spped of your swing causing the ball to compress off of the club face and the speed of the ball’s recovery to round.  Therefore, compression rating is the last thing anyone should take into consideration when choosing a ball.  Look more at the feel of the cover.  I choose a softer, balata-type cover as it creates less vibration through the shaft and my hands.

I think Pinnacle has one with a Susan Koman breast cancer pink ribbon on it that is called the "pink lady".  I think it is 80 compression, and should fit the games of most women.

That ball is 80 compression about like a pinball is.  It’s a freakin’ rock.  My S.O. won’t get near one. Not only that, but she had an offer of a free golf glove or free Pinnacle "pink" balls from some Titleist purchase a while ago.  She chose the glove, of course, but they sent a sleeve of balls.  Then just recently, she got another envelope in the mail.  Inside was a legal notice saying that this is a settlement for a class action suit about the golf glove / golf balls offer, because apparently a bunch of people didn’t get what they wanted. And of course inside the envelope there was also another sleeve of Pinnacle rocks, this time the titanium variety.   -joseph

Ladies please. Bill asked a legitimate question and the poor guy gets royally flamed! Jeez, why are all the ladies getting their hackles up over golf balls? Nobody seems to care when the subject is ladies golf gloves or ladies golf shoes. Why would it be any different with golf balls or clubs? As far as tees go, what is the shame in having the ladies tees closer to the hole than the men’s tees? Sheesh. Fact of the matter is, MOST ladies do not swing a club with as much speed or power as MOST men. What’s the big deal about that? Sure, Laura Davies can probably out drive me, but then again Hank or Tiger will whip us both. What difference does it make? None. It is not how, it is how many. BTW, all "ladies" balls that I have ever seen were regulation in size. I’ve never seen one smaller than the USGA will allow or "British" size. However, most of them are designed to launch better with slower clubhead speeds and tend to be more of a "distance" type ball. So what? That is a weakness with MOST female golfers. That is the biggest reason the avg USGA handicap for female players is around 30 and the male players around 16. Most female players can benefit from a softer shaft and a ball designed with lower clubhead speeds in mind. Of course ALL the equipment manufacturers that have lines specifically for female golfers could be wrong and they could be spending millions of marketing dollars barking up the wrong tree. I seriously doubt it though…. Rick Marchus – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I don’t think compression has anything to do with it. I play 100s when it’s hot, just like you guys. I like 80s when it’s below 50 degrees outside – they still feel like golfballs and not like a rocks. The golfballs marketed specifically for women are SMALLER. If you have a testing ring, check it out. They do go farther with less swing, but they are almost impossible to keep on line on a long putt. They also have rock-like coverings and are impossible to stop on a dry green. IMHO, they’re not worth the money. I make one exception – I play the hot pink or bright blue "Flying Ladys" during "leaf season" here in New England. Those are the only colors I can pick out against the trees. The old two-toned Pings were great for fall golf, but we can’t get them anymore.

How could those balls be smaller.  Last I checked, the rules said that the golf ball must be no smaller than 1.62 (I think, or a number similar) inches in diameter or radius or whatever.  Wouldn’t that make those balls illegal then?? Well, there are such things as balls marketed for women (notice how I avoided saying "women’s balls").  I think Pinnacle has one with a Susan Koman breast cancer pink ribbon on it that is called the "pink lady".  I think it is 80 compression, and should fit the games of most women.  I don’t know about the green one, maybe that one is for seniors? Oh my god! A woman’s ball! If you use it you know what will happen…or can you already feel them shrinking!!!??? It’s no more a ladies’ ball than a 100 compression Titleist is a man’s ball. The only question on the floor should be: does it work for me or doesn’t it? That goes for other equipment, as well, AFAICS. I use regular "men’s" shafts in both my irons and woods – I’d wind up flinging my club and myself halfway down a fairway if I used a "ladies’" club. Far too whippy. I’d like to see the gender identification removed from equipment and just grade it accordingly, as we’ve done (finally) the tee boxes.
