Question:
The different-colored Sharpie pens have differing washaway characteristics. Red washes off easily, black is fairly permanent with blue intermediate. Dave – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – I like one of the paint marking pens but the sanford sharpie works just as well. Rich I’ve been marking my golf balls with a Sharpie permanent pen but it washes off too easily. Has anyone found a good permament marker that will hold up?? Thanks….. I use a black Sanford laundry marker; most rounds my dots fade but are still recognizable for the whole eighteen. I most often brighten them up once or twice during a round, though, so they won’t be disregarded. Some folks use ladies fingernail polish. However for myself I use the Sharpie or other generic. It washes off too easily? I use the same to mark my golf balls, and I don’t have any problems at all. After a bunch of washes, the dots fade a bit, but I just refresh them with the sharpie.
The dimples don’t wash off as fast as the markings on the "surface". 2 washes and the surface marks are gone.

Washes off too easily? You mean you have them long enough to wash them?
Don Lets talk Golf!! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Same here, I never had a problem with the old sharpie, especially when the balls don’t stay around that long
The ultra fine points don’t seem to work as well as the fine points, though.

I just use generic "Permanent Marker" pens… the last time I bought them they were 2 for 80c from a discount mart (Bi-Way). I write my initials on, and they stay there longer than the balls last, even through recovery from water hazards and ball cleaning. Sanford’s ‘big tip’ permanent marker withstands several ball washes. [I use to put my black halos on mine - "swing of death" (TM) logo
