new equipment and handicap

Question:

I don’t think equipment has ever affected my handicap. Buying new equipment might get you to practice more. I think the benefit often is that new equipment well suited to you and your game gives you a better comfort level so you can take you game/practice a little further. For example, let’s say you are a runner and your old shoes are worn, you get new ones that are more comfortable and do a better job absorbing shock. Maybe they are slightly lighter. Well this all allows you to get more out of your workouts and performance, but alone, just new shoes isn’t going to make you go from 6 minute miles to 5 minute ones. — JoePete – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -This may be a painful subject. Does anyone remember how much their handicap has changed after buying new equipment? It’s a scary thought, but I’m not sure a couple of thousand dollars of new clubs will lower a handicap by 30%. For sure my new golf bag didn’t help

After playing just one round with my new set and bag, my handicap hasn’t changed much yet. (still at 20) Although, as much as I hate to admit it, in the excitement of assembling my new set and transferring everything from my old bag to the new one, I overlooked my putter. AArrgghh! I had to borrow my buddies putter that round, and being left handed, you can imagine what that did to my score.I am playing Tour 18 in Houston Saturday, and will be able to gauge my progress a bit more accurately with my complete set.
