Here is a question to everyone- What is the longest par 3,4, and 5 you have ever played. I haven’t been playing long and the longest par 3 I’ve played was 230 yards. As for the par 4 and 5 I don’t really remember. Nick Billings
Indooroopily GC Brisbane Australia (course now renamed) 3rd Hole Par 3 230 metres, slightly raised tee. Bunkers right and short, waiting for the heely fade, Brisbane River left waiting for the long draw. I guess 230 metres makes it about 250-255 yards. We have a 685 yard (back tees) par five (#18) that plays uphill for about 400 yrds. Unless you’re really long, the third shot is usually blind to a large but quite heavily sloped, two-tiered green guarded by water on the right and bunkers on both sides. It is a brutal walk up hill on a hot day after my usual less than stellar rounds. Mostly played from the blues by the great unwashed, it is a mere 620 yrds. Due to a members revolt, the tees have been moved up such that the blues now only play 585. The course is the Oaks in Delaware, Ontario, Canada and it’s a beauty! Meadow’s Farms – a course in the Fredricksburg, VA area has claim to the
longest hole in the US Par 6 – 841 yards from the tips with 2 forced water carries and an uphill
green surrounded by bunkers!! Johnny, Actually only the second lake is a forced carry…. one can hit along the cart path to the right of the first large lake.. provided the drive is very long so you can see over the first hugh hill…. The longest par 5 I’ve ever played was a 610. about 150 yards from the pin it is a strong dogleg left 75degrees. So to make it in two, you have to hit two drivers perfectly, the second one over 50-60 foot trees. I’ve never done it. Two strong 3 woods (I hate my driver) gets me within 100…. when the grass is dry and short (rolls forever).

Par three #8 at the TPC/Sugarloaf in Atlanta can play as long as 265 when the tees are all the way back, and the pin is cut in the back of the green. Par four #3 at the TPC/Las Colinas in Dallas (Irving) is 490 on the card from the championship tees. And the longest par 5 I’ve ever heard of is at an old muni in Ft. Worth called Rockwood GC, where there was a 647-yd. par 5 (they’ve since shortened it to a more managable 600-or-so yards). Don’t remember the hole number, but it’s on the "Blue" course (the third of the three nines). Randy

At Deer Track GC there one that measures 233 yards from the regular tees, and 250 from the back. Also, at Heatherhurst GC in Fairfield Glade, TN there is one that is 204 form the regular with a bunker right in from of the green. It is easier jsut to lay up with my driver

Par 3 — Pinecrest, Holliston, MA — 225 yards with first 195 over water Par 4 — Twin Springs, Bolton, MA — 472 yards dogleg left Par 5 — Don’t know course name, Bellingham, MA 11th — 620 yard dog leg left 12th — 590 yard — first two shots over hills to blind fairways Toughest back to back holes I’ve ever seen.

Par 3: #9 @ Brookdale in Tacoma, WA. 250 yds. fromthe blue and *only* 244 yds.from the whites!!!!! YEEESH Slightly downhill and straightforward, though. Par 4: Desert Canyon in Orondo, WA, has two 4s over 500 yards from the back tees. Par 5: Desert Canyon also has a 682 yd. par 5! Obviously I didn’t play the back tees, but the view from the teeing area on this hole is awesome.

Par 3 #11 at Chaparral CC in Seguin, TX; 250 yds with water on the left. Par 4 #11 at Roy Kizer GC in Austin, TX; 468 yds into the prevailing wind, slight dogleg to the left, sand down most of the left side of the fairway, with water to the left of the sand, heavy mounding on the right side of the fairway, water jutting out from the left guards a left side approach to the green if you are short, plus a large bunker guarding the immediate left side of the green. This one is a real bear from the tips when the wind blows, which is often in Texas. If the wind is calm, its usually driver and long iron. Par 5 #2 at Willow Springs GC in San Antonio, TX; 663 yds with a carry over water. Tim L.

Hole number 17 at Eastbourne Golf Club in Keswick, Ontario is a 280 yard par 3. Hole number 14 at Club de Golf de Joliette Inc. in Joliette, Quebec is a 563 yard par 4. Geez, do Canadians hit further than the rest of the world, or are these holes intended to be played before the spring thaw?
Yes Douglas, we Canadians are very long hitters. Why just last January I was at the lake and hit a driver well over 700 yards, ya, that’s the ticket. And John and Tigger (‘t’ ‘i’ double ‘g’ ‘er’) both sneak back into Canada (ya, ya, they’re really Canadians too) for more lessons all the time ! But seriously, yes, we Canadians are all long ball hitters, really. AND, we have a few very well maintained bridges for sale too, although one is in New York right now (but we’re gonna repossese it for non-payment). dave ‘big arms’ keith, swinging a 57.25" driver (hey, it’s taller than I am !) PS For the record, the May West hole (#8 I think) at Waskesieu is 600 yards. Very difficult for me to reach in 3. The fairway is very hilly and you rarely get a good lie (for good lies, see above . The green is guarded by two large, well porportioned mounds (hence the holes nickname).

We have a par 5 here (at Club West in Phoenix) that is 606 from the black tees, teeing off over desert and including a blind second shot over a brush-filled arroyo. It would be awfully tough solving it in 2 strokes from the back. I was proud when I parred it from the whites (550) 1-iron 4-iron 80 yard 3/4 wedge. I can’t see any real way to play it for eagle but if you stood out there for a few hours hitting driver from the whites followed by 3 wood (not a high-percentage shot since it’s blind, the green is around a corner, and left is all rocks and brush), you might at least get to where you were chipping for eagle once or twice. -joseph

the longest par 3 I have ever played is the 12th hole at franklin canyon golf course on highway 4 near martinez, california. the blue tees are set back as far as 240 yards. The configuration of the hole forces the player to play a fade shot, but their is big trouble on the right if the ball fades too much. It is an ugly hole and not much fun. The white tees are usually set at a reasonable 180 yards or so.

Longest par 3 is 250 yds hole #15 at Rockland Country Club, which is the longest par 3 course in the US. 1st hole is a 228 yard hole. Longest par 5 is 625 yards, #10 at Butternut Golf Club. 3rd shot is a blind approach shot over a hill with a pond on the left of the green. Can’t think of any particular par 4, but any par 4 over 460 yards a long par 4 or short par 5 in my estimation. tom

Par 3 – PGA West Stadium Course – Indio Ca – think it was about number 5 or 6. It was listed at 255 yds from the black <g tees. There is water in front and right. Mercifully you could bail out left to an area that resembles a small fairway for a par 4. Par 4 – Industry Hills Eisenhower Course – City of Industry CA – only 500 yds par 4 I’ve ever seen from the tips. Par 5 – Industry Hills Eisenhower Course – City of Industry CA – #18 – 630 yds.
