Question:
Surely you jest, Texan’s hate Colorado….must be those d*mn Yankees that moved here for a few years to take advantage of the mild climate and now they want cold, snowy winters again.
"Mild climate"??? Bwahahahaha!!! Mark, I was down there about mid-August just outside Ft. Wuth (Grandbury, to be eggsackt) and, son, it was 111* about 80% humidity and every time I walked outside, my sunglasses fogged up. Add that to some reeeeeallllyyy ugly critters called Wolf Spiders (damned things are about the size of my Webster’s Dictionary and the males carry the babies around on their backs, which is about the grossest thing I have *ever* seen), rattlesnakes, copperheads and scorpions…<shriek!!! And every step I took on your weird-looking grass produced an explosion of grasshoppers. Bleah, bleah, bleah… And if Texans hate Colorado so much, how come there are so danged many of ‘em up here?? (Ya wanna here the story about the kid from Texas who knocked my butt down a blue slope b/c he was out of control and couldn’t ski a lick, but thought a blue run would "be fun"??? I think I still have the word "Volant" printed on my backside…) Sorry about the late reply — been at a trade show trying to earn enough to keep myself in golf balls and lift tickets. However, I am originally a d*mn Yankee, and we consider anyone not born in New Hampshire, Maine, or Vermont unfortunate. Thanks again. A. Cate message OTOH, we’re having a growth problem, with all the "flatlanders" moving in, and the price of housing is through the roof, traffic is horrendous and ya can’t swing a dead cat around here without hitting a car with Texas plates. This is a question for any Denver area golfers. I am considering moving to the Denver region and am wondering what the golf season is like in Denver. How many months per year can you play golf? Are courses open all year? Do any of the cities in the area have municipal golf courses? Are the clubs you can join that aren’t necessarily associated with one particular course, but do have weekly tournaments? Thanks for the help. A. Cate Before you buy.

You can play golf in Denver 12 months out of the year, generally speaking. Although most people don’t know it, Denver has very mild winters – with occasional huge dumps of snow that don’t stick around very long. Most courses are open all year – I belong to a country club that does and most of the muni courses do, too. All the local cities – Englewood, Littleton, Arvada, Westminster, Golden, etc. have one or more golf courses that are run by the municipality. Denver has several and some of the muni courses, such as Fox Hollow and Lone Tree, are quite good. There’s a fairly active Colorado Golf Association in which sponsors tournaments about 7 months out of the year. And where else can you ski all morning, drive 2 hours back to Denver, and play golf all afternoon?
