Question:
Thanks for your many wise comments with regards to this issue. Truly despicable threats and acts, although fruitless, i can guarantee you. We will let the legal system go to work on this one. I will check in on rare occasion s and post if there is an absolutely compelling reason, so hopefully many of you have seen and heard the last from, as one of you has put it, a "disgusting" individual. to my friends here, and you know who you are, you are the greatest and the best of luck to you, on and off the course!! eric
Response:
All of this must be wierding out the Great One. I (as an RSG voyeur) am most definitely wierded out by all this Eric shit. Lumpy.
Response:
Welp, if this is true then that person is doing wrong…… Eric is a disgusting person, as he has already clearly revealed, but he does have a right to free speech….. Even I erred in telling him to get lost…… Usenet is a free flowing forum that has rules that are never adhered to thus making it an unmoderated forum…… anyone posting here for ANY length of time should be smart enough to realize this fact…… Bottom line is there are plenty of moderated golf discussion groups throughout the internet that screens people like Eric out automatically…… Even here you have some control, using a killfile….. people know what they’re getting and attempting to squelch Viker 44
Viker, I respect your right to call me a disgusting person. You can call me anything you want.. You can accuse me of every heinous act every committed on the face of this earth. But a line was really crossed here and i appreciate your recognition of this. thank you! disagreements will come and go on forums as this. And in spite of all the rhetoric and histironics this forum, and all others, will go on and survive, and be not the worst, and maybe even the better , for it. Appreciate your comments. shows a lot of maturity and insight eric

Until you "saw" this crap? Eric, did someone actually contact your employer or club, or did you just see a post where someone said he was going to do it? I was under the impression it was actually done. If all that happened was you got an empty cyberthreat from a nobody, you got an awful lot of folks, including me, riled up for nothing.
Nope, they carried through with the threats. David Laville, G.S.E.M. The Golfing Machine Authorized Instructor Contributor Of Consistent & Spam Free Golf Advice.

Get yourselves a chat room somewhere and have it out – just don’t clutter up our newsgroup any more.
JayBird – you’ve inadvertently discovered firsthand why this stuff happens. You couldn’t resist throwing in your 2 cents, could you? Complaining about complaining is still complaining. Your post cluttered up Usenet as much as any other, and everyone who does it thinks they’re justified and no one else is.

Eric Have they actually contacted your employer and club? Or is this just a threat from a bozo? Brad – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Well said Randy. Especially the reminder about the lawsuit that will surely follow. Puttster Well said Puttster, A lawsuit will surely follow and luckily i am not poor and will not hesitate to expend whatever i have to in identifying who is behind this. It will not be that hard, believe me. IF it was i who had done something like this, i would be very worried. Yes, i have made mistakes on this forum as others have in the past , but i know what the boundaries are and apparantly someone here doesn’t. They are about to find out. Eric

It angers me too that "whoever" did this to Eric. For one thing, it gives him a convenient excuse to back out on his promise of not posting. Greg, i fully intended to take my sabbatical as promised until i saw this crap.

Greg, i fully intended to take my sabbatical as promised until i saw this crap. Why does the sarcasm have to continue on your part.? i have dropped it, why can’t you or are you stirring the pot again? i would hope that no matter what disagreements we have had, i am sure that you will find this all quite amazing. I am more amazed, than worried about it , as no harm will come to me, despite the intent. It is just a form of cyberstalking and there are definate legalities to deal with when we leave the "virtual" and go into the "real " world. So this is going to be a great opportunity for me to learn about internet law. I am off the next 2 weeks, so i will be quite busy., with this and a variety of other things. now Greg, one last thing please. I was wrong and so were you. We both were mean spirited and used a lot of words we shouldn’t. It’s over. Can we let this drop and do you want to perpetuate it further? i would rather not and will not. eric

There is a new low of all lows here and that is contacting my country club and employer. but that’s ok, because i have been a member of this club for a while, they know me and my wife very well, and know i am a person of integrity ,pays dues on time, and has never had a spat or bad word with anyone. So i think what ever you have to say to them will be taken in that context and i will be alerting our GM to keep all communications he receives. I plan on being with this club a long time, a long time. Secondly, i have been in my occupation also a long time and my reputation speaks for itself. I have many recognitions for outstanding performance and letters from very happy patients. If you think that a series of conversations in a golf forum, no matter how ridiculous they are, is going to affect my credibility or job security, you are very well mistaken , as their are people that have known me intimatley for 10+ years and know the person i am. This is just another cheap shot and will not work and will prove quite humerous and futile in the long run. For someone to take the time to do something as this, is quite amazing.. as it would never even occur to me to interfere in the personal life of someone.. this is a very mean act and shows the length that some people will go. No matter what anyone has said to me or threatened , i would never contact their employer or golf club. This kind of behavior should illustrate the kind of morality that exists here among some of the group. and this is the kind of morality i have been talking about. IS it acceptable to you? So for those that feel they need to contact my club and employer, i don’t know what you hope to accomplish, but it won’t accomplish much. This is a new low in my eyes Eric

I am so fucking tired of this newsgroup that I’m signing off forever, personally. Sorry to see you go Michael. You are quite right that the signal-to-noise ratio has deteriorated as of late. Nonetheless, in a few months I should be in playing condition. So, what the hell does RSG stand for anyway – Really Shitty Golfpeople ? This newsgroup is supposed to be about GOLF, not about personality conflicts. If you can’t control yourself in a newsgroup, how the hell to you expect to control yourself on a golf course. There are some good people who participate in this group, including a number of people who are new to the game – and you guys – by being petty, ignorant and childish – are giving the game, and the people who play it, a bad name. Maybe you should all move to alt.paranoia.rampant. Take this somewhere else, GROW UP. We learned, on the golf course, that some people never figured out how to control themselves. We do not need to have that reinforced in what used to be a really good newsgroup. Get yourselves a chat room somewhere and have it out – just don’t clutter up our newsgroup any more. Signed: A Canadian whose tolerance for ignorance has run out.

If someone has done this sort of thing, get a lawyer. I would think they would line up at the door for this kind of thing; it is as sure a thing as you can get in a lawsuit. Rob
rob, You are right, I will be calling my attorney…in fact tommorow, as he is also my friend. You can say whatever you want about me in a forum and i will take whatever you throw at me, as many of you will, but to cross this line into "out of the virtual world" as Randy has put it is clearly wrong and illegal., as it comprises a form of harassment and stalking. I already have a copy of one correspndence that was e-mailed and there are ways to trace these things down and i will. You are right about one thing…this is as sure a thing as you can get and i will take whatever actions and expend whatever funds necessary to identify and take legal action against who is behind this. i hope many of the decent among you are as outraged as i am about this. My life will go on for sure and my employement and club membership fully intact, but i’m just amazed as to what is out there take care gang. Eric

– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -"Eric Strulowitz" wrote There is a new low of all lows here and that is contacting my country club and employer. Only once to my knowledge has anyone in RSG ever been so stupid to step across the line by contacting a poster’s employer. That was Zamuel, and those of us who remember it thought it he went way over-the-top. Zamuel disappeared shortly thereafter. We can only hope that something similar occurs with whoever it is that has contacted Eric’s club (and if they have, his employer). Folks, this is a virtual world. Disagree with someone all you want, but the minute you cross over into their real world activities — specifically, attempting to disrupt their right to earn a living by messing with their relationship with their employer — you have gone overboard and deserve whatever legal sanctions await you. Has Eric brought some of the heat he’s received in this newsgroup upon himself? Absolutely. He no doubt went a little overboard (maybe a lot overboard) in his all-out assault on George Hibbard in recent days. And for that, he deserves (and is willing to accept) any and all verbal bashing he may receive from any of us in RSG. But does his behavior warrant others in the newsgroup attempting to blackball him with his country club and/or his employer/clients? Not a chance. Guys, I’ve seen a lot of wacky behavior in RSG in the six years I’ve been here. Hell, I’ve contributed a fair share of it myself. But if someone is contacting Eric’s club and/or employer in an effort to damage his relationship with either, I don’t think they’ll find much support for their actions among those of us who have been posting here for long.
