Question:
Randy, you BOUGHT those?
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Good website….thanks! Did you see those new Callaway "Big Bertha" irons? Holy shit!…..the USGA is going to have to come up with volume/displacement policies for these irons pretty soon! :-)
Response:
I know that the players have played prototype irons (Mickleson for example) but bringing them to the PGA show means retail [rest snipped]
Matt, Wasn’t trying to insult you there… :~) Did you happen to notice if Titleist had the utility wood that DLIII/others used for awhile last year? -Ron (via google)

I didn’t take it that way, No worries Did you happen to notice if Titleist had the utility wood that DLIII/others used for awhile last year?
I didn’t catch them
Response:
The 690CB’s are what I saw a glimpse of. But the 731PM’s are the one I’d go for
FYI, http://www.equip2golf.com/index.html has some pics of the irons Mark A
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – On Golf Central they were showing the titleist irons. First the Tiger woods model and then below it was a Chrome cavity Titleist that had an ‘F’ engraved on it and a muscleback area that looked 990′ish. Looks like titleist is going back to that market, Anyone else see it?

Looks like titleist is going back to that market, Anyone else see it? I am sure that both DLIII and Sergio, even G. Norman have played these (forged cavs) on tour, and possibly Duval very briefly when he was still onboard. Dottie Pepper also had the forged cav for awhile, but she has been a Titleist blade player traditionally. I don’t know if Woods has ever hit anything but a blade-type club. As I’m sure you know, Mickelson currently uses a new version of the cavity back in his long and mid irons (the only other left-handed tour model was from the early 80’s), but without the muscle in the cavity. The Tiger Woods model is pretty much one of a kind due to it’s grind, but I understand they are selling the 681 limited irons as "The Tiger Woods" iron, since they are very similar. Also similar to the 821, which aren’t so easy to find. I’m still trying to find out about Titleist’s utility wood (like a quick strike or rescue). I guess a bunch of the staff players grabbed them up last spring, but haven’t heard anything since. — Ron Blanchard RSG Rollcall – http://u1.netgate.net/~kirby34/rsg/blanchardr.htm I took the RSG 2002 Pledge to not encourage trolls "Make Golf Difficult Again." - Ian MacCallister

Didn’t see it, but there are alot of the proliners going back to forged cavity back irons that have not made them in a while. Ben Hogan did the same last year with the Apex Edge series. They have a professional model of this iron coming out next month as well.
To my eye, these Edge’s are the most gorgeous design I’ve seen, ever, in clubs. I know one person who has a set who swears by them. I don’t know of anyone else who has them. They don’t seem to be very popular. Does anyone know why? Peter

You mean the shovels LOL. I have a set of the original big bertha irons in my garage, looks very similiar. Just goes to show that there aren’t too many new designs, just refurbished ones. I played the BB up until a year ago, then got the MP33s. I think I’ll pull them out for a round for kicks. Mark A

I have a set of forged Edges from the 70’s or 80’s. Love them.

KZG is the industry leader when it comes to forged irons with their many styles to choose from and they make them in left hand also at a lot better price than the OEM companies. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – On Golf Central they were showing the titleist irons.
