My place of work is having a little outing. I’m holding the application and it says it’s a Callaway and hadicap. What’s that?
Check out http://www.geocities.com/augusta/7814/golf.html for a Callaway Handicapping spreadsheet. May be of some assistance to you. — Cliff Spencer (Esperance, WA) http://www.geocities.com/augusta/7814/

"Callaway" is a system of computing a handicap after the fact based on your gross score and your worst holes. Since the majority of golfers out there do not have an official USGA handicap, this is one of several methods of determining a handicap in an outing or other tournament with a wide spectrum of golfers participating. While I don’t have the table in front of me, an example might be that if you shot between 85 and 89, your net score would be your gross score less your 3 worst holes. Usually there is a maximum allowed score on any given hole that slides with your score. Anyway, the details for the purpose of this discussion aren’t important, the method is. FWIW, another common method along with Calloway is the Peroria system, where after the tournament 6 holes (1 par 3, 4 par 4’s, and 1 par 5) are chosen randomly (usually drawn out of a hat). Your score on those 6 holes is added up, and your handicap is computed from a table based on that score. Hack on the right holes and score well on the rest, you’ll find net scores in the low 50’s !
