Replacing Callaway C4 Grip?

Question:

The grip on the Callaway C4 driver sucks! It slips constantly, even with a golf glove on. It’s supposed to be tacky, but it really is not. Does anyone know the actual weight of that grip? I desperately want to replace it. I just know, it’s very light weight and a heavy grip, will through the swingweight off, thus I have to be careful on what I replace the C4 grip with. Thank you in advance for the fast reply. VG —

Response:

The weight of C4 grip is 35g. I replaced mine with golf Pride Velvet lite, which is about 39g. Last Saturday I brought the new Golf Pride cord light, which is 38g. I have not had a chance to put this one on yet, but I hear people are liking it. There are not many grips out there with 39g or less. Whatever grip you decide on make sure the butt size is .600 rather than the standard .580. The latter size might make the grip feel too large.     Hope this helps. Don’t worry about grip weight.  Get a grip that feels good & performs under various circumstances.  Saving 15 grams on grip weight has a trivial effect on club feel & performance.  I sucked into the ‘lite grips’ for a season and didn’t like them – not enough grip and too narrow on the low hand portion of it.  Then, I did the arithmetic on the difference and it’s trivial.  A grip you like is a real confidence support – especially when the palms get a little sweaty. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –     The weight of C4 grip is 35g. I agree. However, a heavier grip than Callaways C4 grip, could possibly make the head lose feel. The club is already light enough. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Don’t worry about grip weight. The weight of C4 grip is 35g.     It’s 35g, according to the people at Callaway. I have a friend who used a heavier grip (55g), but he also added tape to the head . – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Thanks Russ!
