New Callaway woods

Question:

Hey, *I* haven’t bought one yet.  Still having fun with my long driver toy and if anything, next in line is a GBB 7 wood. The GBB woods have treated me very very well, although I’m about ready for a different shaft.         -joseph – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Gee, how did I know you’d be among the first to get one 8^) Got one.  Love it.  Even easier to hit than the War Birds. Great Name! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Has anyone tried the new Steelwoods? Perhaps it’s just me, but the design on the sole makes the clubs look really cheap and nasty. What’s going to happen to the old Big Berthas? Are Callaway going to stop making them? Are there still plenty of stocks around? I just bought a Steelhead 3-wood with the M10 steel shaft today, and I really feel compelled to say that I love it! Nice sound, great look at address, and really solid feel at impact… I am still not quite sure whether it has a higher trajectory than the original War Bird, but judging from my round today, it is obvious that it PERFORMS from most lies (tight, semi-rough, fairway, tee) Yeah, I know I sound like an advertisement from Callaway, but I am only a 12-handicap medical student from Denmark… Claus 8-) ICQ # 10050819

I got the opportunity to try out a demo 7 wood (my 7 wood is an original BB 7W, not the HeavenWood) and it definitely flies the ball further.  Also cuts through fairly gnarly rough like hot butter.  It also has a very pleasing "tink" sound (better than my GBB driver, even.) The most impressive part of my experience was its ability to cut through the rough and to get the ball off of a steeper downhill lie.  I thought my old BB 7W was superior to the HeavenWood but I’m ready to buy the Steelhead 7W, no questions asked! I have not tried  any of the others yet (line at the golf store is too long to borrow them!)…. — "Man blames fate for other accidents but feels personally responsible for a hole in one."       –Martha Beckman
